I went when I was single and the food was not very good. Happened to eat there as a married man, and the food was still no good. I won't be going back.

Thick bras and dance tights under their shorts .......... what the hell is there to see ? One can go to the pool or beach and view much more. Hooter girls are strippers that aren't brave enough to get on stage.

Or maybe Hooters girls had a solid relationship with their father and don't feel the need to undress for every dude with a buck in his hand

I've been there a couple of times and like many have implied, I count a lot more cons than pros. The food is your standard bar fare and you can get it anywhere, leaving the girls, who are cute, no question. But I'm very conscious of "the sell" when I'm there though, and there are a lot of similarities you can draw to strip clubs, where the "exhausted" girl will come over and sit backwards on chair to talk about how she "can't wait" for her shift to be over or whatever. They all have a practiced bunch of tricks they use to ingratiate themselves with tables full of guys. Unlike strippers though, they're hustling you not for a private dance, but that tip when your bill comes for the extra special service you got. South Park did a great spoof some years back.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_kYcEcgRWcw

There are hot hostesses and waitresses everywhere, so if I'm going to be a creep and leer at them, I'll do it at a regular place.

Guessing it has more to do with expiring 20-30 year leases than a waning male interest in female breasts.

You'd actually be surprised but Hooters doesn't have a bunch of drunk assholes. They're pretty strict on the amount of alcohol they'll serve with a pretty low max over a time period.

I have to be honest, I feel that there are some fascinatingly strong opinions on this forum about Hooters. Maybe a bit weird even....

You really never know how a thread about any particular topic will go...

Agreed!

If we are being honest the strip clubs in Buffalo have better wings than hooters. Just sayin.

It isn't my thing. I went to one in the 90s on the start of a bachelor party and it didn't leave a positive impression.

Fast forward to 2017 and I am married with kids. My preference in food now would surely not be on their menu.

Personally wouldn't bring my kids there based on the menu more so than their uniforms which by today's standard isn't that eye raising.

Not sure about the waning interest in breasts but I think Hooters has some serious competition. Tilted Kilt, Twin Peaks, Bikini's, and others all have just as attractive, if not more so, women and they are dressed in fewer, far more revealing, clothes. Hooters, in comparison, has become pretty tame with their outfits. And the food at Twin Peaks, while not a fine dining experience, is far superior to Hooters. Yeah, I know too much about this topic.

Let's be honest no body goes to Hooters for the 'great food' plenty of 'proper' restaurants for that - Hooters is what it is - don't take it too seriously!

Having only been there once: Hooters = bush league. Besides, there are a lot of places that make good chicken wings (aka 'pub grub').

Though 'officially' defunct since 1991, the original Playboy Clubs would have been a far more attractive venue for sporting an Oyster and checking out bonafide foxes (aka Playboy Bunnies). They had a better dinner menu and wine list + 'big name' entertainment.

I once had a Playboy Key (a mere $25.00 annual fee back in the day) but was too young to enter the premises at the time.

My daughter wanted to stop at Hooters while on the way to Florida when she was about eight years old because she loved owls. Surprisingly, my wife told me to stop. The waitresses could not have been nicer to my children. One waitress even gave my youngest daughter a t-shirt with an owl on it. I have not been back and don't know what the evenings are like, but I did not see a lot of big-chested women trying to get tips with their feminine charms.

'sporting' = wearing. 'Oyster'= Rolex.

A typical pic/selfie depicting 'me and my Rolex' at the Playboy Club would be a lot more interesting than one taken at Hooters alongside a plate of Buffalo Wings and a pint of Budweiser.

Nice recovery. My search for 'sporting an oyster' produced a vulgar reference to female anatomy.

No recovery necessary. Sporting as in 'wearing' is a common word. Just goes to show that Google cannot be relied upon for everything, including simple terminology.

Or, apparently, take off their clothes.

How can they be strippers if they don't do that?

My local Hooters has recently closed as well. Kind of disappointing regardless of the cr@p food. The beer was cold and plentiful during happy hour. It was a good place to meet up with friends from work. The girls always seemed nice and aimed to please.

The fault for all of this lies with us "Boomers," or at least, that's the story, and it's not just Hooters.

'Psychologically scarred' millennials are killing dozens of industries — and it's their parents' fault

I think their wings and fried pickles aren't too bad. It's a good place to hang with your mates. Just FYI, most of the girls are working their way through college, so I wouldn't lump them in the stripper box.

Self service checkouts are essentially a way for companies to remove costs and maximise profit by outsourcing work onto their customers.

The net result is a loss of low skill jobs for people who lack the ability to do much else, and a country with a high unemployment\underemployment rate despite a "good economy".
