And once the TK are open for a while (especially in smaller markets) the talent falls off quickly once the traveling "opening crew" has moved on. My wife's astute observation from the last time we were at the one by our old house.

Food is not that great at either. But hooters does have a good buffalo chicken sammich.

I like the wings. Hey, if alot of the stores close and the girls are laid off, medical school enrollment will go up.

I must be a drunken asshole. I like their wings. Not frozen, lightly breaded right before fryer.

I'm a Florida kid so I used to go many years ago(1980's). Also knew the more recent owners.
Smart business guys. Understood vertical integration. Owned the restaurants, likely the land, the photography company that made the calendars, and the trucking company that shipped things.

Never understood the whole Hooters phenom. It's a chicken wing, that's all.

Thick bras and dance tights under their shorts .......... what the hell is there to see ? One can go to the pool or beach and view much more. Hooter girls are strippers that aren't brave enough to get on stage.

I visit the local Hooters a couple times a week with my colleagues from work. They like eating there, I usually just get a cup of coffee.
I'm not a drunk asshole (as far as I am aware of). I am very respectful to our waitress and I can tell you I rarely even see an attractive one.
Additionally guys I can tell you I see families coming in with kids. Seems like the whole "Hooters" gimmick is gone it's just like any other restaurant...

I suspect the beer helps your eyesight, especially after you use beer bottle bottoms for lenses.

Hooters probably making better returns outside of USA, got acquaintances in that line in developing countries - by the pics they circulate, looks like the foreign Hooters have more fun than USA stores hahaha

Downunder Charbucks has died, can't tell you where's any store still existing even if you begged. Can't recall when's the last time I drank their brew either.

Never been to Hooters but they opened one in Hong Kong and plan on opening more. I Walked by last night and it looked crowded -- not surprising as most HK Chinese (of both genders) love chicken wings

I last went to Hooters in Moblie, Alabama, back in 1996. It was good fun but that's all it was. The food was ok and, again, that's all it was, just ok. I can imagine I'd soon tire of the place if going there became a regular occurrence.

'The Tilted Kilt' HaHa! I remember it well - Whilst in Florida on a FAMILY holiday last year, we walked into a 'Tilted Kilt' quite by chance not realising exactly what it was and just thinking (in our English innocence!) that it was just a regular sports bar....boy were we surprised!!!

No complaints though...have no idea if the food was any good or not tbh, I was distracted by the game on the big screen TV... cough/ahem!

I took my wife just before we got married to
Hooters in Florida.... She never forgets to
mention it ... in passing!!!
The food was good and the atmosphere/scenery
from what I can remember was also acceptable...
She'd just come to the US from Europe and was
quite impressed to say the least ...

Nah....This is all fake gloom and doom..

I know of a few NEW HOOTERS going up as we speak.

They are closing older stores in markets where the population has shifted..

Cities are living things...some areas get old and crappy and new, fresh stuff gets built in new areas so people go there and the old parts just rot out...until they get redeveloped down the road and become minty fresh again...

In the UK, most McD's now have a 'self service' section as you walk through the door.

Its basically a large touch screen where you can scroll through the menu, choose your order, pay by credit/debit card and then (in theory) walk up to the counter and collect.

Having said all that, at busy periods, sometimes you still have to wait about the same time as if you'd stood in line as normal.

I think that was what Etschell was maybe referring to - although it probably confused things when 'Kiosk' was spelled Keyosk

WOW! Really??

Possibly not just regular girls like yours or mines daughters just earning a few $$$ whilst studying at University, or maybe a single Mum trying her best to support a young family on her own...?

Maybe think a little and be less derogatory next time dude!

Yup, I agree lots of young college girls working to pay for expenses. And you you what else, here at least, they dance in strip clubs. Good for them.. they empty lots of wallets and there're good at it. Who cares most do nothing wrong

It does. I'm not sure the whole business idea is very 2017...

I certainly don't mind Hooters. Can be a fun place at a mall to hang around for a few cold ones while my wife is shopping, but not my place to eat. And as others said, not much to be seen there. Girls/Women nowadays have smaller pieces of clothing on going to the supermarket than a Hooter Girl at work.

Always sad to see people lose their jobs. Similar to Sears closing here in Canada.

I hope the workers can find employment elsewhere.

They've implemented the same system in Australia. Self service supermarkets are the norm as well with only one to two people actually being on the checkout.

I refuse to use them personally as the practice while smart for the company is unethical.

Huh?

I don't use self-service check-outs either, but because I don't want to fiddle around around finding the little bar code labels hidden on packages to scan them. It never occurred to me that Ethics figured into the equation.

Perhaps that was a tad harsh. I'm not a big drinker and drunk people tend to annoy me so I don't hang around in bars and pubs.

I don't think it was.

I think...

What you wrote - "Well, I'm married so hanging around a place like hooters with a bunch of drunk assholes isn't really my thing."

What some people read - "Well, I'm married so hanging around a place like hooters where everyone there or who has every gone there are drunk assholes isn't really my thing."

A "bunch" isn't everyone in the restaurant.

Being married has no bearing on my opinion of Hooters

I always thought the food was far below average and if I wanted to go to a place to have attractive women put on a tease, there are a lot better places for that...
