which Pateks are currently being ignored or undervalued

Just curious as what the oppinions are on which Pateks are sleepers, or currently being overlooked, undervalued. Base this is market value rather than retail list price.

5524G and R - easy to get almost 20k off MSRP going grey. 5230P brand new and a cool mix between old school Patek DNA with modern strap. Seen it for 58-62k on the grey market. Also like the other WT 5130 and 5230 G and R.

Currently in the catalogue or even among last decades' production?

There is a way in answering by saying all the QPs under a certain secondary market price point (mainly 3940 and 5140/5940). We can say they are undervalued for a reason but, still, for someone who likes watchmaking, that's an interesting offer.

I would say 5960P (grey, blue, black) as they offer so much in terms of functions, aesthetics (subjective) or technically. The 5159 retro-date QP, 5024G Salmon, 5200G 8 days blue or white (latter is my favorite, modern and classical). Many Calatrava models.

And I agree with Milgauss88, if you like shaped watches, it's a good place to look at.

None of them are undervalued really. Patek is not competitive at the price point 2nd hand VS other watches.

Patek 5320. Greatest watch in terms of aesthetics, functionality and prestige. Yet can be had for 20+K under on Grey.

5227. Don’t hear about it much, and I saw one listed for under $25K on European Watch Co last December. The lugs, the open case back, the dial - exquisite. The 5227 is possibly my favorite PP at the moment, the one watch I would give up last if I had to part with my collection.

Probably the 5135. A bit of an acquired taste, but it has the size/wrist presence and functions to be a winner, yet the market still does not prefer it. Good deals can be had with this one, which has been true for years. Other PP annual calendars seem undervalued too, relative to PCs and some much in-demand other pieces.

5227 is a great choice and good value for sure secondary.
I also think the Neptune is a great choice, medium size, completely unique bracelet, same movement and dial layout as 5712. Winner for me and on the short list.

To me it’s the 5000 both J and G models have been criminally underrated because of their 33mm size. In reality they wear exactly like 36/37mm because of the extremely broad and long lugs (just like a NOMOS Orion). It’s a rarer vintage but also modern Calatrava from the early 90s with a beautiful black dial, display caseback, the cal. 240 micro rotor movement and most often including a gold deployant clasp. So all in all an insane value proposition.
It went in recent months from 12k to 18-22k now but I think it’s such an attractive Calatrava package that it’s still a better deal than almost everything in it‘s price class.

Then there’s the 5035 which is way too affordable for an annual calendar right now. There’s only relatively few of them available and I don’t think they‘ll stay long in the 20k price range.

Obviously like mentioned before the Neptune is still way too affordable considering the current Nautilus craze. I‘d definitely love to see more appreciation for that watch in general.

The obvious one is the 5235 regulator. Unique movement in the catalogue, case based on a legendary perpetual calendar, has 3 components of the Patek research, strap monster. Only downside is the water resistance but not willing to take it underwater.
Fantastic watch and hands down the nicest watch Patek makes under 70k.

What about the 5960 Platinum

I think this is such a classic design and priced well these days.

5227, 5235, 5524, 5320, 5905 are undervalued currently.

Historically Calatravas markets prices have been lower than list prices, so the 5227 is not that surprisign.

There was a time when the 5524G was selling for $5k-$10K over list price, but that is certainly not the case any longer.

Similarly the 5235G during the first few years of production was hard to get and market (including auction price) was quiet higher than list price.

Historically PCs are not a popular watches and market prices have been lower than list price. Of course the exception is the 5740.

The best thing about the cream 5320G, besides the amazing top of the range daily complication, is its stealth wealth looks and not it’s FLEX unlike the salmon version. IMO!!!

The 5320 in cream is pure PP but the younger buyers went for the salmon. The watch is my favourite PP and once the colour trend fades will resurface as THE PP perpetual calendar so buy it if it’s cheaper than retail.

agree. I think the 2 pilots look great, tho I understand msrp is quite steep. 2nd hand prices look really good.

Agreed. Not too hard to get at MSRP now, and can be bought pre-owned at a slight discount. Interesting complication, steel, and unique dial (if a bit love/hate). Dresses up or down, and changes character with different straps. I also have a gut feeling that they won’t make it for too much longer.

Aren't most of their precious metal watches with complications available used under retail. It's not so much Patek, as it is the overall market for dress watches, especially in precious metal with complications, is soft at the moment. There are exceptions such as the 3940s, but they were so undervalued for years. Look at the 5172s, except for the P, well under retail. I recall the 5270G-001, the first model, retailed for what, 170,000 and it was under a 100K used for quite a while. The market wants SS sport models.

5235 is a dress watch. It has the standard 30m WR which makes it splash proof only. It comes on an alligator strap which cannot be submerged in water. It's not a downside, it's just that dress watches are designed not to swim in.
