The Official Formula One Thread!

I’m hopeful the team transporters can get all their garage and other kit packed and out of the zone under the emergency situation.

Set up in Monaco could be affected but that race should only have schedule juggling if the gear is delayed.

So disappointed to hear about the conditions at Imola. Of course safety for everyone comes first. Compared to most sports - not that many F1 events each year and makes every race important and must see.

Apropos 'climate change', some might see it as highly ironic, that the pinnacle of ICE motor sport is disrupted by an extreme weather event.

...or, maybe not.

I have a solution...

I had this dream last night... that formula 1 required teams to participate in several different classifications of racing as a basis for the world drivers/team championship.

open wheel road course, closed body super speedway, sailing, rally, off-road, unassisted decent... etc

F1 does their thing like all other WDCs do theirs.

It’s been done for a long time already for an overall ROC.

But it’s interdisciplinary so F1 & other sports drivers can compete head-to-head.

I know you guys are bored - but let’s drop the eco-political global warming stuff before it gets out of hand.

Not naming - nor shaming - just know how quickly TTO can snap one into a wall at 300kph.

Humor ends when someone gets triggered and we spiral into an argument that transgresses the rules and it closes this thread permanently.

Last time we were warned by Steve personally.

Will's Daytona on brown leather rally strap looks EPIC!!! Seriously, he needs to tell us more about it during the main broadcast

This piston is 30 years old (almost to the day back in 1993) when F1 was truly a grand sport as Ayrton Senna won his final Monaco Grand Prix, powered by a Cosworth F1 engine.

You are passing up on a chance to google the current F1 specifications and give us the maximum total mass allowed for the ES, the battery type, weight and power output etc?

It is interesting.

I know right. They used the crane on Lewis’ car and it almost went totally vertical

Pinballstappen over FLYonso

What a RACE! I think, F1 should stop racing in Monaco but add such a "race" in this racetrack. It was magnificent, what a final lap! Amazing how many times the pole position changed in just one lap... Pouvre Alonso...

+.2056 in the last sector was magical... that should have been Alonso's pole.
not sure if anyone was watching, but that chicane right side barrier at full speed was absolutely stunning.

It was a fantastic final few minutes in Q3 - VER put together a P1 from shredded wheat.

S1 & S2 times were not helping.

Admittedly, the exciting stuff was prolly today. All will be known when the lights go out on Sunday.

That was the best Q3 I’ve ever seen! Alonso was so close too but Verstappen needed a couple slaps on the wall to pull it out. What drama. Agree that we’ve most likely seen the most excitement for the weekend in Monaco.

PS: LeClerc dropped 3 spots for impeding. Ocon advances to 3rd

For any who didn’t see this:

Plus SxS of VER/ALO:

Lastly, the 3 grid spots for LEC will be perceived differently by many. I feel he did nothing wrong personally under the circumstances. But those circumstances involved fumbling by the team.

Sadly for Ferrari fans, LEC got the standard penalty for impeding even though it was ineptitude by the team.

For your info:

Paul, since this is the Rolex F1 board and is that really a Paul Newman Daytona Will is wearing during the broadcasts? Was hoping you'd tell us by now. Is it his? If not, who kindly lent it to him? Bernie? Flavio?

It looks reeeeeeeeally nice and hope Will gives us some details during today's pre-race broadcast.

Noticed a few races back the young lady is also now wearing a Rolex during broadcast too, bravo

What could have been in AM's mind to switch to medium tires in the RAIN?!? A well-deserved nomination for the Darwin Award

Anyway, the competition fluctuated between boring and horrible, somewhere in the uninteresting category. Even the rain didn't change anything... But one thing is for sure: Verstappen took Hamilton's lucky bag. There is no such thing as lasting longer on the medium tires than Alonso on the hard. It doesn't matter to this man, he simply wins and that's it. Just like Hamilton, as long as he had his lucky bag...

The Official Formula One Thread!

Not sure why anyone is disappointed. It’s Monaco and my expectations were lowered accordingly…Grateful for the rain. Enjoyed seeing a few battles in the lower ranks and cool seeing Alpine on the podium.

Now on to the next one in Indianapolis!

Cheers!

Entertaining race, nice to see they can drive in changing conditions without walling it. Ocon did great, the rest was predictable. Fernando has one more step to climb

Some really nice yachts out there this weekend. Private aircraft too, most impressive.

Didn’t see any of the pre-race stuff so I’m guessing the watch reports are all replicas -

Strategy went well for many - was a routine Monaco GP race but that’s a good thing. Dry, Rain, Clearing…anyone who thinks that’s boring should try to do that in a race.
