AP Royal Oak service and refinish?

Hey everyone,

I've been thinking about getting my Royal Oak 14790st serviced and possibly refinished. I am not sure if it has ever been polished as it looks very sharp but the light scratches do bother me a bit in harsh light. Mainly I think it is due for a service as it is running a bit slow.

I took it to the AP boutique and they basically told me the amplitude is fine and it should have another year before it needs to be serviced. The service rep there said he regulated it but I see no difference so...

I'm wondering does anyone have any recommendations for local watchmakers (specifically in LA), that could do a proper service on this type of AP? Or is it only recommended to send it to AP for service? What about refinishing?

Any advice?

On a side note my wife recent got a 8638ba Royal Oak II, the 29 mm automatic for ladies. It was barely running, so we took it to AP and they had to send it to Switzerland just to get an estimate...3 weeks and still not word yet. So if possible I would prefer to avoid a long wait.

I would never let a third party refinish my APRO. Just let AP do it, be patient and enjoy afterwards. Regretting you messed it up will last longer than the waiting.

I agree 100%
I had a 2 tone 25594sa years ago and got rid of it because I didn’t like the polish a third party put on it.

Take it to a different AP boutique but I’d never take it to a third party for service or refinishing.

Under no circumstances would I let anyone but AP polish the watch (even then I would be anxious).

Sound advice. Anyone have experience with the service turnarounds?

I think it varies depending on backlog, but Clearwater seems to take around 3 months give or take a couple weeks. I would give them a call and get details directly from the source vs AD.
