I'm curious on how an AP will look in 10-15 years. I've really only seen older Rolex models in the wild and they seem to hold up very well.

Anyone have pics to share of one they have owned for awhile?

I think with everything, it comes down to how well it was taken care of and the materials. I'd have no doubt if properly cared for, it would look stunning in time.

I see you have a Daytona and the 15400...that's a very fair comparison since they both should be taken care of, so in 10 years I'd bet they would look very similar.

I have my Diver and my 15400 for 1.5 years now. It still looks as new and fresh as the first time I bought it from my AD bar some scratches here and there. Maybe a longer time will tell.

I have a 42 year old royal oak and it looks great. Minor ageing of the dial and hands only. Modern materials will be unlikely to change at all over the years providing there is no moisture ingress to the case. Externally you'll get the odd ding and scratch which you just have to accept. For sure the flat bezel and perfect polish of the RO line will show marks more than the finish on a rolex sports watch.

I purchased this vintage extra thin Audemars Piguet last year. Previous owner have reconditioned it, I'm not too sure the age...40 or 50 years old, maybe? Happy to own this amazing timepiece!

Watch life is a function of respect. If you are careful and service the watch when necessary it will reward you with a long life. I have an IWC that was my father's. It was made in 1929. It works as well as the day it was made. I do get it oiled every 5 years or so and I wind it regularly.

My friend has had the Diver for 4 years now, and even with the high steel bezel, it still looks almost new, but he does look after it, so I would say it is all in how you wear the watch.

Thank you for the comments. I think I am the most careful with my RO anyways as it seems to have a more "fragile" feel to it.

I don't know if this watch is a lifer or not but I'm enjoying it so far.

After visiting Le Brassus I'm confident AP will service any watch I purchase in my lifetime. As for the design the RO has been an icon since 1972 and the ROO since 1993. I really want an original ROO for my collection. I feel it's still one of the best looking offshores after 20+ years.

Interesting topic. Even though all answers are valid, maybe the focus of the question is how does it age compared to other watches like Rolex sports watches and Patek Nautilus. Case wise the concern could be the amount of scratches over the years. Movement wise one thing that comes to mind that would be interesting is to know about is the future of the 3120 movement because obviously the 2120 has passed the test of time.

Following classic AP offshore of 11 years old without any polish/touch up since it left the factory. I got it from the 1st owner.
IMO it ages very well even without wearing it carefully..
