A journey to my new watch!

So Friday night a member posted that he just left his AD and they had a handful of SS professional models in stock, one being the SD50. I quickly called the AD and although they were hesitant at first they said they would hold the watch for me only if I could come in to the store by Monday to pick it up. No problem, paid in full over the phone and said i'd be in Sunday to pick it up.

I live in North Dakota and we don't have a single AD in the state and it just so happens this AD, in Billings, MT, is the closest AD to where I live. I've been in the store a few times in the past but have never purchased anything so I was thankful they were willing to hold the watch for me.

With my limited access to AD's I have purchased all my (Rolex) watches online, luckily before the "shortage" and high secondary prices. This is going to be my first Rolex purchased from an AD and I couldn't be more excited for tomorrow! (cliche) but I honestly feel like a kid the night before Christmas!

It's going to be a 4 hour drive in the morning but I have nothing else to do so I'll make a fun Sunday out of it. Weather and road reports look great so should be a good day to travel.

Just wanted to share my excitement and chronicle my journey to my new watch!

Follow along if you'd like. I will post pictures throughout the day

Off to try to get a little sleep. We'll see you around 6:00am tomorrow!

Should make the journey a fun one. Just watch where you are going on the return home! No staring at your wrist! :-)

Love this story.

I want to read reports from the road:
-your pre-purchase meal/beverage
-the weather
-the purchase experience
-post-purchase alcoholic beverage, maybe once you’ve finished the 4 hr odyssey

I want full coverage.

Cheers and congrats.

Very excited for you! Most of all drive safe, you’ll have plenty of years to stare at it so keep your eyes on the road, not the prize!

Eric, great find and congratulations; hopefully know early storms while you're traveling. Made it to Rapid City but never up to ND. It's great country!!!

Safe travels Eric! I’m happy you were able to get the SD43 from an AD at MSRP. It’s too big for me, but definitely a great watch. Wear it in good health!

Thanks everyone! Pretty exciting day for me.

Running a little late but with a newborn you take the sleep when you can get it.

First things first.
