Deepsea seadweller or Datejust 41
Hi, everyone.
New to this forum. I want to buy a watch. I tried, and Both DSSD and Datejust 41 are nice. But met some queries. Same with the title. I bought this Rolex for daily use. Apart from this, I like fitness (I may take off watch when doing strenuous activities) , running and hiking. As far as I am concerned, the DSSD has changed material (904L steel and 5 grade titanium before. But now just 904L steel), and the cerachrom bezel seems weak. For datejust 41, smooth bezel looks like more durable? But the fluted bezel looks very beautiful. I want a watch can last longer, good quality and durable. So, which one should I buy? |

The way I read your post, you already decide and answer your own question. Don't you?

Deepsea seadweller or Datejust 41
Welcome!!!!!
Wow. That’s almost like comparing pizza to sushi...complete opposite sides of the spectrum — but both of those watches could be worn everyday - and are very durable. The DJ (to me) is probably more versatile - out of those two. But you can’t go wrong with either. They are both very durable and will last forever. Good luck!! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

Datejust for sure. SD is more of a niche in my opinion

The watches you’re comparing are at opposite ends of the wearing spectrum.
Do you have anything else or is this a one and only? Welcome |

I wouldn't make any decision until you're better acquainted with the performance aspect of either watch.
Did you really just say the DSSD seemed weak? Wow... |

If you're only going to have one, go with the one that makes you smile the most. Having to pick only one I would be in every AD I could to try on the different models to know for sure. When you pull the trigger on your first (er, uh, I mean your "only" Rolex) post a pic. It will be interesting to see where you end up. Happy hunting.

Flip a coin. Either is a good fit for what you're looking for.

Really depend how the two set on your wrist. I'd say the DSSD, but my wrist is just over 8 1/4 in. The DJ would feel too small (like my sub). If you are 50/50 on the decision, get the one that fits you best. I laugh when skinny wrists try to pull off a DSSD.
Also, you'd find an easier time finding a DJ and get it faster. |

The Datejust 41 is a comfortable watch to wear. It wears nicely with a long sleeve shirt. I think that it is a good day to day watch (at least for my day to day). The DSSD is much larger. I do not know what your daily dress is like but that may influence your decision.

Apples and Oranges. If you want a small sport watch, get the Submariner. Next would be the SD43. If you have very large wrists, then consider the Deep Sea.

If it's a daily I'd definitely go with the DJ 41. Don't own one, but with the jubilee bracelet and thin case profile I imagine it's about of comfortable as a Rolex can get.

Hi, watchwatcher. I mean the bezel of DSSD is weak. And I think DSSD replace the 5 grade titanium to 904L

And the only thing made out of titanium is the case back. And the case back hasn’t changed. |

The DJ is by far more comfortable for daily wear. The fluted bezel is just as strong as the smooth bezel but the gold fluted may be a tiny percentage more prone to scratching from a bump....but on the flip side it will hide it much easier than the smooth bezel. Neither bezel are meant for abuse. Now the ceramic is more durable than both for daily life. It is scratch and fade proof and will handle most normal day to day impacts without a mark. To me it is the strongest and most durable option. You are misinformed about the Deepsea. Since inception it has always been a watch made of 904L stainless steel with a Grade 5 titanium caseback. The case and bracelet have always been 904L and only the caseback was titanium as it is part of the watch's hermetic function under pressure. Although I'm not sure how these two are compared as a choice, based on your daily requirements, I think the Datejust is a better option for you. It's like asking which should you buy, a 911 or G-Wagon. |

This is a wildly opposite comparison. I have both a Deepsea and an older DJ. Completely different watches. You need to ask yourself what you are looking for from your watch. If I were to get rid of one, I would certainly get rid of the DJ and keep the Deepsea.

If you have the wrist to carry the DSSD then that is where I would go. A great watch and since they updated the bracelet it is not top heavy anymore. The DJ is a cool watch and I have owned many over the years and worn them extensively but just don't have the passion for them.

Two totally different great watches
Each have their pluses! You will get 50/50 responses. Depends on what you want it for. The DSSD is a tank and very sporty if you have the wrist for it! DJ aid more versatile as it can go dressed up or down Try them both on and go with what songs to you

If you like them both then you will most probably end up with both. So pick one for now and save up for the other :)

Either one should serve well as a daily wearer.
Though I tend not to wear any watch when I am doing things that require greater physical movements, running, gym, yard work, etc. For one, it’s uncomfortable to have a piece of metal on my wrist when I work out; two I like to minimize the risk of the watch getting banged up accidentally. |

Just to clarify - the Deep Sea still uses Grade 5 titanium. It is unchanged in this regard.
