What do you guys have as your beaters?
Received my first Rolex. In the process of getting rid of every watch I own because this one WILL KILL all of them.
Now I need a beater watch. What do you guys have as a beater? I'm thinking of getting just a blue invicta prodiver quartz. Reason is I have a pretty good strap that would go along with it well. Should look like the watch on top here: |

I don’t have a beater watch per se.
But my daily watch is a SubC Date. |

I don't have a beater. If I'm in a situation where my watch would take a bad beating, I don't wear one. All of my watches slowly pick up biffs and bangs, not because I beat them, but because they don't get babied. But they don't get abused wither. Consequently, my oldest watch, a Carrera 16 Day Date, has got the most wear and tear on it.

I guess it depends on what you mean by "beater." I"ll wear almost any of the watches on any given day, so they'd all be "dailies." But if I'm going to be bashing my arms around (don't do much of that these days, frankly), I probably will take my watch off. But for daily wear, any of them will do.

My beater is a quartz Christopher Ward Trident in black. For if/when I don't feel like wearing an expensive watch and it's very reliable. Doesn't get all that much wrist time though

Personally myself hate this term beater for any watch.

Your sub should be your daily (beater). Its not a some high end Patek. I wear all my watches but do not abuse them. Just use common sense and take it off for a minute when working on your car or fixing stuff. Actualy i do have kind of a beater. Its my 14060m. Its the (only) watch i wear when going to the gym and it still looks better (less scratches) then my wifes 6 month old DJ.

I don't have "beater" watches. I have watches I wear based on the function I need.
I wear my Rolex daily while swimming or running I use my Polar or Fenix because I can track all environmental and personal metrics of performance. I don't need to track these parameters at dinner or at a wedding so.... I agree, simple logic. |

I don’t consider any watch that I would wear a “beater”. Even a lower end watch that I would wear in a less than optimum environment, is special to me and properly cared for.
Of, most of theses “beater” threads pull out a few individuals that take pride in trashing their PM Daytona, Submariner, Day-Date, etc.

Don’t have a “beater” per se...but a couple watches that will fit the activity that’s called for. So I do have a couple watches that fit the bill for watches I’ll...”put in harms way” so to speak...trap shooting, golf, running, etc.... vs 5 figure piece.

When winter climbing or diving I always sport my trusty G-Shock Riseman. It has served me without glitch or maintanance since 2012, beaten by -35°C, high altitudes and thick sea-salt deposits.

An all ceramic IWC. It can take a beating and look new. When you scuff door knobs and other metal, it grazes and takes a layer of the metal off, nothing off the watch. The marks are easily removed with a steel cleaning eraser.
I don't call a £10000 watch a beater, but I use it nearly every day and it can take a beating. |

Just wear your Submariner and don't worry about reserving it for some other purpose. As you pointed out, you're not gonna want to wear anything else, so why bother?
Buy good watches that you'll enjoy wearing, be reasonably careful not to bang them around a lot, and then you don't need to think about a "beater". |

Is there a difference between a Rolex guy who has an Invicta beater and an Invicta guy who has a Rolex for special occasions?
Yes, I have cheaper more rugged watches I wear when I know its going to get banged around. Just like I have other shirts besides long sleeve white dress shirts. We get it, Rolex are tough tool watches but why tear them up intentionally. My point is... don't buy an Invicta copy of your Rolex, buy a decent rugged watch that stands on it's own merits. |

My DSSD JC2 is my “beater”. Worn daily so it’s picked up its fair share of wear.

Tudor Submariner 75090 (black) is my daily wearer. When I come home, it comes off. My Casio Illuminator is my "house" and "yard" and "exercise", etc. watch.
