Recent discontinued models (help)
Hi guys,
I have recently fallen in love with Panerai but am yet to own one. I am looking at purchasing either a 000, 112 or 111. It seems that as these models are discontinued and that they are going for quite a bit used. An example of this is a 2010 000 on watchfinder for £3150 or a 2006 111 for £4000. Am I right in saying these are expensive? If so what would you advise in terms of obtaining one of these models? Thanks |

What I would advise is that the pricing will either stabilize or rise.

If I was going to pay that much for a used reference, I'd pay the extra and look for something newer or even NIB. But that's just me.
Make a few phone calls to Panerai dealers around the UK and see what's hidden in their cupboards. You might get lucky

No way would I pay £3,850 for a seven-year old one when there are several available for a maximum of about £800 more. The dealer speaks English, so pick the phone up. They're only 20km north of Stuttgart so you could make a day trip of it if you fancied a quick adventure

Yeah, that seems crazy. I just found a BNIB 000 R series for about the same price as the pre-owned examples that you cited in the OP.
Hope you are able to snag one of those that Ruud found for you. Keep us posted! |

You definitely can't go wrong with either. Since they are out of production and you can't see them all in store, it's just matter of finding best deal since you can't make up your mind :)
PS I wrote an article that might be useful: https://paneraireview.com/panerai-wa...000-vs-pam112/ |

Thanks Ruud, Vladeta and everyone else for ypur advice.
I think I'm going to avoid the minefield of Chrono24, too many sellers claiming their watches are 2016 models but the edition number proving otherwise. It looks like I might go down the 00372 route as it's a stunning watch and much less hassle! |

If you're interested in a BNIB Pam 000, Wempe have three in stock in Germany. 1 in Hamburg, 1 in Munich and 1 in Stuttgart (as of last Saturday).
They had none in Frankfurt and I should have emailed ahead. They can move them around to whichever Wempe you will be at if you give them notice. |

Has anyone noticed any increase in demand / harder to find / prices going up already on the base ones, which are discontinued?
Will be interesting to see how it turns out... |

Good luck on finding a 000. I found mine half way around the world in Venice Italy.
Not even the Firenze Boutique had it available. I got a late numbered R serial number. |

6497 is awesome. Easy to service. Works good. I can get it serviced for $150
