If I had an a 5711 I'd send it you for sizing Mike. Problem for me is I have to add links to anything that doesn't have a Glidelock. My hands and wrists are just too darn big

I have to say that PP bracelets are the only ones I no longer am willing to try to size. If I have one main complaint about PP is the bracelet pins. I spent hours once trying to size. Personally, I think any competent watch maker who deals in high end pieces should be able to take care of you.

Don't matter if it's Rolex or PP AD, they all can screw up. So I think it's a matter of luck or knowing which AD has a good watchmaker.

This. Read around the forums and you will find tales of watches being damaged during resizing by ALL brands AD's or watchmakers. Try to find a good one who is happy to help irrelevant of what brand, AD or boutique they work for.

Here is a link for some higher quality tools: http://www.ofrei.com/page237.html
I own a 200$ "repair kit" from Bergeon - which is nice. As for resizing my patek bracelets i still use the cheapo blue plastic twist-type pin remover very effectively. I have used a more expensive black one (can't remember the brand) that broke immediately trying to use it my first time. That being said: aside from the twisty blue watch pin remover I have found having quality tools (especially screw drivers) to be invaluable. And it's great advice. Watch kit I have, and like:

I have a Bergeon bracelet "fork" as well as a 1.2mm screwdriver. Unfortunately both are useless in this case haha I'm leaning towards watchmaker and pray. No sales workers lol

Just curious, will the Patek AD size it free of charge?

Most would. It's a show of good faith and costs them nothing. If you buy a watch from them down the road its a home run. My rolex AD has sized 4 watches for me on separate occasions and never asked for a dime

If that's the case, I would take it to the AD.

I bought a 5711 from a seller here that needed sizing. We only have Tiffany in my town. They wanted to see the certificate of authentication and needed to send it to NY to be sizes! Said it would take two weeks. Couldn't believe it.
Walked upstairs to a very nice Rolex AD who I had purchased from before. I asked if their watch tech was comfortable sizing a Patek. They looked and said, absolutely. Told me how it needed to be done, did it in front of me for free in all of about 2 minutes. It's not hard but someone who knows these bracelets should do it. Otherwise bad things can happen. I think you just have to find some you trust. Patek AD or not. |
