In the world of design, anything is an inspiration to everything. There are only so many ways that a formula can work. I disagree that Seiko "copies" Rolex. You'll need to do a lot more reading up on Seiko's rich heritage before pulling that statement. As for Invicta... they're a fashion brand, not a watchmaker.

I LOVE the Seiko line. I admit, I didn't appreciate them until last year. That's when Carl set me straight. The Grand Seiko's are truly a work of art. I hope to obtain a GS one day!

To the OP--sorry, but I disagree with you.
Seiko diving watches, just like any diving watches, must have certain attributes. You need to have a bezel that you can turn in one direction, you need the luminosity and fat index markers and you need to be able to count the duration of the dive, so you got some minute indicators on the bezel. These are the basics and every functional dive watch will incorporate them as well as some other minor items (e.g., a protected crown). However, I wonder why Sieko chose the red and blue combo for the bezel, as red makes little sense once you go below 80ft. The wavelength of the light is too long to penetrate that deep and red turns into the ugly brown... |

Seiko is one of the great watch companies in the world today. I wear my GS every week and really enjoy its quality and it's style. I feel it is one of the nicest watches I own and is a keeper. I also enjoy my Blue Anniversary Monster on a regular basis. I would not even think about owning an Invicta.

I know I'm getting into this late. However, I own two Invictas. Please don't kick me out of the forum, they were gifts. They are very light weight material on the bracelets and clasps, which do not close properly. I have one quartz and one auto. They are crap, but they work, sort of. I wear them when I do yard work or do something constructive. I would not spend my own money on one.
My dad has several Seiko dive watches, they are really cool. The material is rock solid and they are made like tanks. I am currently looking to get one myself. Having tried them both out for a little I can say that they neither resemble or feel like a Rolex. Each watch has its own merits in what they do. I like Seiko and think they make fine watches that do not resemble any other. Just because they have similar color schemes does not mean one copied the other. These are just my opinions and should be taken with a grain of salt. Have a good week.
