Flip a BLNR... For a BLNR...?

I'm going to start out with this because I know I am weird.

Right now my just about year old BLNR is at RSC NY getting red lint fibers removed from under the crystal, and a new hand because of some foreign object in the lume. I dropped it off, spoke to a watch maker who was very understanding, etc. They have been calling me daily with updates and have been all around great people to work with. We will see when I get the watch back but so far I am very pleased with the service. But the OCD in me feels like the integrity of the watch (or something) is compromised. Like, somehow because it's been cracked open and there a replacement hand, that it's....tainted? Of course I haven't gotten the watch back, and I have been a chronic flipper in the past of Omegas, never holding one to service, so I am in new territory.

I've considered flipping the BLNR, only to buy it back new. Am I crazy? Has anyone ever done this? I mean, any other watch prob wouldn't be opened for a few years anyway, but it would be opened eventually.... and this is a piece that I want to keep for a lifetime, so it will undergo multiple services. Plus, I am sure it'll look amazing and am sure that the performance (PR, accuracy, etc.) will be the same too.

So the new ones are opened to be assembled and when they need service they are opened?

Imo keep the BLNR, when it returns from RSC. It should be good as new, fixed hands, clean crystal. Give it some time and if you still feel like flipping it, you might not lose much.

O my gosh it's only a watch. It will be fine. I can understand want to have it right but the RSC will make it right so don't fret.

Well I won't use the "C" word - but have you considered that it would be akin to jumping from the frying pan into the fire?

In other words, the new BLNR might just have blue lint beneath crystal and something even funnier inside that you wouldn't know about until it began loosing 30 secs./day?

you talk about the watch being compromised.... when your watch gets serviced at the 5-7 intervals or whenever you decide to send it in, they completely disassemble it and put it back together, does this make any watch that has been serviced compromised?

like others have said keep the watch it's crazy to lose that much money for the exact same watch. It will be good as new when you get it back so put it on your wrist enjoy it until service time.

Personally, I think an almost new watch that has been serviced and has had its single problem addressed, is a safer bet than a new unknown watch.

Kind of like a year-old certified pre-owned car - the bugs have been fixed and it's still under warranty.

Keep it. It sounds like your real issue is that you love flipping.

So odd that the Swiss go to such lengths to sell the idea that these things are built by human hands and then we have owners that don't want them opened and touched.
