Next purchase… considering a tourbillon

Hi everyone,

I have built iber the years a decent Ptel collection ranging from Calatravas, few nautilus and lately the 5270P.

I am thinking of my next move and i am contemplating a tourbillon. Of course Patek is out of scope here else i need to sell my house to get one!!

Any recommendation for a reasonable tourbillon watch that can be found? Honestly the only one i could find after research is the Moser heritage tourbillon but i am not familiar with the brand at all.

Let me know guys if you have recommendations.

Thanks.

Breguet invented it, so I would start there!

You might also look at Greubel Forsey tourbillons. Their price range is similar to the Patek tourbillons range, but they make some interesting pieces.

I would second this one. I have one of their Tourbs. and love it.. I also like the new VC tourb. but have not seen in person. I have a Gronefeld Parallax Tourb and this is also fantastic but now out of production since limited edition. They have a newer release Tourb but these are hard to get right now.

For more affordable tourbillons, you may consider these (easily searchable and prices on their sites too):

- Jaeger Le Coultre has a Master Ultra Thin tourbillon
- IWC has a few tourbillons too

Next purchase… considering a tourbillon

Hello
Great collection there. 5270 is a grail worthy piece itself. I envy you. Alternatively, I feel JLC came up with a stunning piece recently. The Reverso tribute duo face tourbillon! Honestly, it is a spectacular piece and such an under-the-radar easy to miss piece. Subtle yet speaks volumes with just a switch of the dial. Also, almost close to the 5270 price point when I inquired. Give it a look and please do post a picture of the new addition to your collection regardless of what brand you choose to go for. Wish you the best.

That is simply beautiful. Enjoy.

OP, you are certain to add something amazing whilst playing in this sandbox. I like the GF suggestion. Whilst Cartier and FM will get scoffed at, I think they have some incredible tourbillons at a good value (speaking relatively of course).

Panerai makes some interesting options including the 768. You gotta like the size though

Tourbillion timepieces made in Switzerland range from ~$4500 on up. So without a scope of investment, it's hard to say. PP 3939H were around $175k last time i checked. Did you want an old-school flat tourbillion like Pateks or a modern multi-axis that more creative brands offer?

i prefer PP but dont mind micro brand

i have not seen any PP tourbillon below $200K! and available. i looked at Moser and will continue to look at other micro brands that have availability.

There are some pre-owned Patek tourbillons under $200k. One of the least expensive Patek tourbillon is the 5101 with the 10 day power reserve, along with the tourbillon. Interestingly for this reference, the production number for the P version was higher than the other metals.

I just obtained a Moser Streamliner Centre Seconds.

I quite like the brand and am considering their tourbillion. Its stainless steel which makes it quite wearable.

I would personally refrain from getting a tourbillon from Tier 2 brands like IWC, Panerai etc.

A tourbillon needs to come from the holly trinity (adding ALS to this I guess and probably taking out AP - would not get a tourbillon from AP given they only sell RO and I can't see a tourb in a sport's case like the RO). A tourbillon is HH at its best so there is no compromise here.

So either I would save up (or trade up) to get a tourb from PP / VC / ALS or I wouldn't get one. Simple as that.

Going Tier 2 feels like these guys getting a red Mazda cabriolet sports car instead of a Ferrari. It's close but it's not the real thing.

Just my 2 cents I guess though.

I love Lange, but what were they thinking when they decided to write ´tourbillon’ on that one…
Looks cheesy and doesn’t even add to dial balance…

Well I guess back in the early 1990's when a tourbillon was something only offered by a very limited and select group of manufacturers they thought it important, indeed this was the first wristwatch ever with a Tourbillon and chain & fusee - the wording doesn't worry me.

i see the Lange point but...

honestly, i prefer a tourbillon on a bit of sporty watch and i am unable to find a Lange. the closest i found after my research was from Czapek (a small new brand). they have a sports tourbillon called place vendome, dark matter.

not sure if anyone has any experience with the brand or the watch. but it looks interesting.

I think the brand is interesting, their new rattrapante appealed to me. No actual experience.

For a tourbillon would go to VC eyes closed.
Their tourbillon made with the maltese cross is simply out of this world!

I like PP tourbillon because they do not have o hole in the dial. More subtle.
