I can’t handle this…

Somebody has to help me. I need to know something… How do you act when something really good happens? That was me last week, something that released literally a couple years of stress and self-loathing?

OK, when you tell me what to do about that, then tell me what to do about today.

I received LIFE-CHANGING good news today… From the VA, something I have been working on for years as well, life-changing good news. I have had to stop typing just to regain my composure because I start crying, tears of joy, of releasing years of stress, self-doubt, and understand I received something today, something that brightens my future significantly.

So, what do I do? It has been so long since I have had anything like this… I forgot what to do.

A serious thank you to all those members that contacted me and offered prayer, Thank you, Maybe life is worth living after all.

Live in the present, appreciate what you have, be considerate, compassionate, and Love Yourself for who you are. Just be Happy, you don't have to act. IMHO

Congratulations on the good News!

Congratulations on the good News!

Larry has it 1000%. You just need to let the happiness into your life. It will take its course from there.

I would also like to say, there’s no “maybe” about it. Life is always worth living!!

Paul, you’re not alone. Always remember that. Being able to talk openly about your stress, mental health is the first step to balance in your life and regaining happiness. I say this as someone that has fought my own demons almost 10 yrs ago now. If you ever need to talk to someone who understands, vent, complain, celebrate or just hear some encouragement please do not hesitate to reach out. One person in this world was at the right place at the right time and because of that person I am still here to repay the favor to whoever needs it. Never forget, you are not alone.

Always tell the truth.
Always be grateful.
Work hard.
Say your prayers.
Help others.
Smile.
Love.

I don't know you, but reading some of your posts, you seem like you embody all of the above. I would add the only other "instruction" is to simply, "Live"

Congratulations on your good news.

Congrats Paul! I think I can imagine the good news (maybe), and if it's what I'm thinking - that's huge!! Celebrate by taking a long, beautiful drive in the Vette, buddy.

Well it hopefully is all good for long term.

My 2¢ on the question…
When you’ve composed yourself, thank everyone involved in helping you get what you sought.

I’ve had my share of good news since Summertime and have found it amplified the euphoria when all involved had been thanked in a heartfelt manner.

Congrats Paul! I am the worst about celebrating great things and it’s a constant point of discussion with my therapist. Greatfullness, embrace the positive news and live in that moment for a while.

Whatever has been directed your way, I am very happy for you. Sit back, relax, breathe deep and enjoy it. When ready, try to pay it forward a bit. But sounds like it is such a relief, no rush on that...take your time.

Whatever it is, big congratulations to you.
I'm just glad you're happy and sharing your happiness. So often we only share the misery we're in. Maybe your happiness will make others happy in turn.

Thank you everyone, and my health is fine. It deals with the VA and military pensions, and that is about all I am comfortable saying. Trust me though, it is VERY good news…. A decision was made in my favor. I am still beside myself… I have a lot to be thankful for this Thanksgiving.

If it's what I think it is, then thank your higher power.

Continue to live life as normal.

Spend a reasonable amount on something special.

Invest wisely.

Paul, when it happens to me, I remember that I did not do it. My higher power did. I do things to get in position but the really big gifts are from another.

Enjoy it and then keep doing what you are doing with the right attitude. You seem to have it down. Let this happen and then help another, when you can.

I’m very happy for you Paul and wish you only the best.
I don’t have any “words of wisdom” for you, but allow yourself to enjoy the feeling (& contentment?) that the news brings.
