Icon17 Extremely under-rated dial? - Z-Blue

Personally, I think the Z-Blue dial is extremely overlooked, and will be highly sought after in future years.

It changes from green when viewed at an angle, to turquoise to vivid blue when viewed directly in light. In the dark it is an extremely dark green-black.

I think my eyes are bleeding from how instagram filtered those pictures are, but yeah it's a sweet dial, I've had mine for about 4 months now. I'm still honeymooning and wearing it daily.

I don't think it's underrated by anyone who likes it. I'm with you. Unique and beautiful. It sounds like a recipe for a migraine but in real life it works*.

* works better than those over processed pictures.

It’s a fantastic dial and has such a unique funkiness to it, it is really a fantastic watch. I may be bias, but I have to agree with you.

Agreed, great-looking dial. I just can't get over that seconds hand. Wish it were straight.

Great dial, I didn’t like the chunky case and couldn’t get a comfy fit

Underrated? Prices for used ones have nearly doubled last 2 years.

Compared to other SS sports Rolex with blue dials, it is very underrated.

+1 it's the second hand that has always kept me from lusting over it.

The blue dial is beautiful though.

I actually prefer it as a lightning bolt.

Adds character, difference to my other watches, and of course harks back to the original.

I think that is is overatedelly underated... = so many people loving this watch pretend it to be underrated so they can love it more and feel part of a special group. Truth is the majority of people (even non Rolex fans) like this watch and have nothing against it, apart from it thickness. I trust that this is the criteria that might prevent people to buy it more. It is not underrated in my opinion.

Spotted one in the wild back in August - Katie Cassidy was wearing it.

The dial and blue Crystal is nice, but it’s too thick. It was underrated a year+ ago, now the market is priced to hype

Based on prices I don’t know if I’d say it’s underrated. I tried one one a few years ago, was to thick for me but the dial/crystal is stunning

Not sure it is underrated, how do you figure? You think it should be priced like a pepsi? I think it's priced correctly

Best crystal, best dial, needs the updated case, bracelet, and movement. Chances of Rolex doing this..42%

Also, a scientist watch should be on jubilee not oyster dive bracelet. Scientist needs anti magnetism and comfort to focus the mind. A missed opportunity from Rolex there.

Probably reissue some vintage inspired normal crystal with black dial type thing.

We’ll see!

I think any Rolex that is not hyped lends itself to be being considered underrated. Underrated compared to what? It’s a watch that is not all that antimagnetic compared to what omega has been putting out for a long time and the appearance is quite quirky. Yes the dial changes a bit in the light, but so does GS but they of course don’t say Rolex on the dial.

I don't have the watch, but I really like the Z-blue dial and the bolt. They make the watch very unique in the Rolex lineup.

I have a lawyer friend who wears one of these. When he walks into a crowded room, I spot the watch first!

Nothing to do with price.

Just that in my watch group, no one ever mentions or talks about this model. Yet there is lots of discuss on every other steel sports model, and various other models too.

Also not really talked about much generally from what I've noticed. Hence I formed the view it is underrated.

Extremely under-rated dial? - Z-Blue

A quirky watch that attracts niche collectors.

Not underrated.

Simply not over hyped.

Hence less popular than its siblings.

It doesn’t have to be popular, over rated, hyped. The people who appreciate this watch for what it is. That’s all that matters.

Aside from the visuals (which I love), I think what makes this watch special is it’s attitude and how it conveys boldness: not many ppl have the nerve to spend that kind of dough on a watch that’s so different. Usually folks go the “tried and true” and/or “hype is king” route.

Z-blue was my first Rolex and one I love. But not giving it much love at the moment because I’m still honeymooning with my BLRO.

This is a watch that in the zblue is just great. It a very handsome watch. Some people that have access to really hyped pieces at retail price still wear it.
