I think the Cellini is a much more suitable dress watch than the DJ. Go for it.

Just wear it to the McDonald's drive through. Doesn't matter if you have an occasion, wear your watches whenever because you love your watches.

My idea or point of going for cellini is this is kinda unrolex yet with rolex durability and a diff kinda to dj.

Crazy why? Because it's all about the Rolex sport line and Cellini is not the norm.

For the regular Cellini I would say no. But for the moonphase, all in.

I just got this a couple of weeks ago and it is definitely a stunner.

Drop dead gorgeous !!!

I would put that watch up against any PP Calatrava, A. Lange, VC, or Breguet (which I think needs to be included in any conversation about dress watches) … and when you compare like to like (complications) to any other brand, Rolex Cellini comes out about $10K less.

We all know how durable Rolexes are. I won’t mention brands, but two friends at lunch this week, both own one of those brands I named above … one just got his watch back from repair … he didn’t know what happened, “it just stopped running” … $6,500 … the other friend, with 3 of those brands, “none of mine run”.

PS … The Date indicator is awesome.

I also recently got the Rolex Cellini Moonphase and I totally agree, it's a really great watch and often gets compliments, "that's a beautiful watch" being the typical comment.

It's more substantial than a traditional dress watch, with nice weight and presence about it, which makes it a little more sporty and versatile while still being an elegant and refined watch.

Cheers.

The smart move would be to put your money in a PP or VC dress watch instead. Far better watch, and although more expensive, it will retain more value than a Cellini.

If you like it, not crazy.
But for me , for a dress watch I would spend my money elsewhere as I think there are nicer watches out there.

Not at all! Maybe before they went automatic but not now. I loved this one so picked one up over the summer.

Not upset at all. If I wanted a PP or VC dress watch, I would have gotten one.

Some people like red some like blue. It's all what makes you happy. And it's not always about what retains more value.

All the best.

I wonder if all the scarcity of the other models the Cellini is getting more love these days.

Its probably the only model left now that doesnt get any attention. Every single other model has skyrocketed.

Tried a couple on and really liked the size and weight. Loved knowing that it would last as well as my other Rolex watches. Caseback felt very comfortable. Major dislike was the hands which looked short, just didn’t seem to fit in the dial properly.

Everything has turn offs though right? For me a Patrimony felt too “light”, the Calatrava too delicate, and the Saxonia would be perfect for me if the movement fit the size of the case.

Wouldn’t it be nice to be able to call any of these manufacturers and get a piece unique.

My AD has not seen one for the past 6 months, and he wasn't sure if it has been discontinued.

Buying a Cellini is like going to a Mexican restaurant and ordering spaghetti. Sure you might get some interesting spaghetti and it might be edible but not as good as what you would have gotten in an Italian restaurant.

I would suggest you try to hunt for a Cellini prince instead.
