Hi everybody,
right now I have a collection of several different sportsmodels.
Two of of them are the SeaDweller 4000 (40mm, Ref. 116600) and the new Submariner Date Kermit (Ref. 126610LV).
Now I have the chance to get a SeaDweller 43 (Ref. 126600) or a Submariner (No Date, Ref. 124060) at MSRP… but only one of them.
Both are great, but which one would YOU take? And why?

I've owned the SD 43 and it's a great looking diver . The SUB ND is a nice looking watch and fits almost any wrist and doesn't sit as high as the SD43. I would choose the SD43 over sub ND because the SD43 has the edge in presence. Good luck!!

SD43, to almost fully cover the 40-41-43mm range. Then you’d ONLY need to add a 39 Expl 1, a 42 Expl 2 Polar and a 44 SDDS JC. Only after all of the above you’d of course need the Sub (ND).
There you go, the next 10 years of AD relationship and waiting list.

First it depends on your wrist, both are nice watches but I would lean more towards the Sub since it wears better in addition to being more iconic and versatile...

Good news is you can't go wrong either way

Lot's of people saying SD43 I'm assuming without knowing your wrist size? The SD43 is a pretty big chunky diver, I wouldn't be able to wear it.

Both are gorgeous watches and the SD43 has the cool red text on the dial, it's a littler more unique than your regular Sub. I'd recommend you try both on for fit and go for the one that fits your wrist better.

I have the Submariner 114060 and love it, the 124060 is pretty similar.

+1 as I just mentioned above, wrist size will be the most important factor in this decision as the SD43 is huge.

SD43 is one of my favorite and most comfortable watches ,but that doesn’t seem to be the case with everyone .

Your Seadweller is a superior watch in just about every way. What’s the point in spending thousands on another that’s so similar?

I would take the one I wanted to own and wear both great watches the only choice is down to yourself and yourself only.

Sd43. I have one, but my wrist size is 7.25. It’s comfortable once you remove the dive extension. I have submariner as well. The difference between the two is that you will feel the presence of the SD.

I have owned several of the SD43's and love the ascetics of the watch and the red text. But, it does not wear as well as my Hulk or my 114060. I have a 7.5-7.75 inch wrist so I can pull the size but have moved on. I have a Tudor Pelagos LHD that I actually like better than the SD43. Red Text and alternating red date wheel, titanium, great bracelet and OEM Rubber strap as part of the kit. I would get the Submariner-C ND and add a Tudor Pelagos LHD and still be close to the retail of the SD43 and have two great watches. Good luck and let us know what you decide.

Avoid the SD43 at all costs!
I've owned one a couple of years ago for a week, had to sell as it was so uncomfortable it was unwearable, the awfully designed protruding case back is a killer.
Today I tried one on again while I was purchasing a Deepsea and nothing has changed!
Submariner is fine and Deepsea wears fine, doesn't wobble and cut in to your wrist.
I really can't believe Rolex produced such a terrible case back, how it ever got approved and went in to production is beyond me, I really have never come across any watch at any price so badly designed.

SD43 is what I would buy. I just sold my Sub ND and will be keeping the SD43. The fit is great for the size and it just looks great.

I originally was interested in the SD43, but I felt it was way too big for my wrist. I went for the ND. If I had a bigger wrist, I'd go for the SD43 as it looks amazing on larger wrists and has a nice presence. On my wrist though, the ND is the right size for me.

Personally, I’d go for the Sub for two reasons.

1) I don’t like the bezel on the SD43. I don’t like the minute markers
2) I prefer a watch with no date.

To me, the SD43 represents “new” Rolex, while the ND is more “old” Rolex.

The evidence is right here in this thread…proponents of the SD43 clearly like it for its wrist “presence”.

ND fans often cite its under the radar appeal and its versatility.

New vs old attitudes. Flash and impact vs classic and understated. Spotify vs vinyl.

If I were in the market for an SD as a functional tool watch, I’d go for the discontinued ceramic SD4K.
