Feels like the consensus is stick :) which helps me.

I’m probably a little caught up in PP hype, but having been into the Salon the experience was something special when my friend bought himself 2, a WorldTime chronograph and the platinum blue annual calendar chronograph.

I reckon I’ll stay where I am and hope I can put the money together to buy a PP outright in the future. I appreciate the input to bring me to my senses.

This Patek could be a Longines, Baume et Mercier, Vacheron, or any other brand. It’s just a round watch with complications. For this reason I really don’t see why you’d switch two extremely distinct watches.

How do you like your modern Roman DD? I am looking to get one and would like to know what you enjoy about it.

It’s a wonderful watch, bracelet is the highlight it’s so comfortable even with the weight of the watch. That and the colour of the alloy. I bought it retail when I could have got the olive dial for the same money and the same wait time. But I went with the white because I preferred it 100%

I’ve had a couple of wobbles on that wondering if I’d have preferred the Olive, but I just don’t like the olive on rose, much prefer it on the white gold watch.

Because of the platinum in the alloy it looks almost silver at times then under interior lighting really soft and warm.

I’ve added some shots to show the contrast.

I’ve seen the RG/green is popular at the moment indeed. Tried all m’étala the other day, with white Roman and a few other variations. I really like it. Never was a fan of Roman but I think the issue was the typeface. This is like a baton hybrid and it just looks 3D and beautiful. Bracelet was nice but having many models with glidelock, it’s annoying to not be able to adjust on the fly.

Anyhow it’s not for now just yet, still thinking my way about which should be next. Thanks for sharing, it does look great!

The bracelet adjustment has never bothered me and I have 2 glide lock watches. Totally agree on the typeface I would never had gone with the Roman in the 36mm, but this looks totally different as you say.

I would trade. You're getting so much more. The online watch crowd generally don't get that Patek calendars are multiple steps beyond hyped Rolex stainless beaters. Yup guys that's what rolex stainlesses are meant to be, an every day beater except now they're put on some ridiculous pedestal, becoming downright unenjoyable.

Both the president and the green sub, you'll have a shot at getting again in the future. They are at their peak in resale value.

Also with the dealers now looking at entire collector profiles before allocating watches, the Patek will signify "serious collector" way way way more than hyped stainless pieces.

Sounds like you've decided not to do this this trade. Great decision. That DD is gorgeous.

1. We are on a Rolex messaging board, so We are all obviously Rolex junkies… take that into consideration when asking for feedback.

2. For the right PP, I would trade the Sub, Milgaus, and Yachtmaster (+cash) wo hesitation. While all are great- None of those references are unattainable / show stoppers. But- Personally, I don’t prefer that particular PP.

3. I would never trade a DD for anything. It’s the pinnacle of the Rolex marque.

I recently purchased the rose gold day date with olive dial. Your one there looks fantastic but completely agree with the conspicuous nature of the rose gold day date. I feel conscious wearing it out in the Uk with the current state of robberies etc so am very selective when I think it is safe to wear. That exact patek is the next one on my list but I would not trade the day date for it.

How much durability do you need OP? Is the PP new / just serviced?

Maybe for this one - but I don’t really understand the current Patek craze. I will admit I have fallen for Patek also and had to talk myself off a steep ledge for the 5711 (although I really prefer the 5726). I would just be super sure, whatever you do. I almost bought a 5170P last weekend - but talked myself out of it. Guy wanted $115k and I didn’t love it that much.

Both watches are a perfect combo… for everyday and dress watch… both rosegold and stainless steel bracelet is better than that pp bracelet.. ☺️

I agree with previous comments. The PP perpetual is boring. They do make some stunning watches but for that amount of money you should love the appearance of the watch and not just the idea of having a PP grand complication. Your DD is impressive but what’s the fun in owning a watch that is so conspicuous you are uncomfortable wearing it. Trade it for WG DD or find a more interesting PP or Lange.

I would not even trade that DD for that Patek.....let alone throw a Sub in this deal.
