Sub vs gmt
I own both a SS submariner and a SS gmt BLRO, i have had the sub for about 3 years and the GMT for 2 days.
When i bought the Sub apart from the Daytona it was the sports model of choice, Now it appears that the GMT is way more sort after. Do you think that this is simply there are more subs out there? This is based on grey market retail price no science and just a question On peoples thoughts I love both and am pleased I am lucky enough to have them. |

Doesn’t matter. Enjoy your watches and don’t get caught up in what others think.

I think in the age of Instagram, the GMT fairs better visually. But to me it comes down to whether you want a unidirectional 120 click bezel vs a 12 click GMT bidirectional one.

You'll enjoy your watches much more if you dont worry about what others think of them. Enjoy them both, they are both awesome.

It doesn’t really matter, at all, but the gmt is probably a little more difficult to allocate at the AD. I still think the Sub is the sports watch of choice though even though the gmt is a little more difficult to get. It’s all a big game right now.

I personally find the gmt to be a way more useful complication. There was no doubt in my mind I wanted a GMT. The sub came many years after

The length of the clasp on the sub is a deal breaker for me. The GMT seems more elegant IMO.

Out of both I'd always choose a sub.
The GMT has gained ALOT of popularity. When I started the GMT was behind the sub for sure but since the new releases it seems to have overtaken the Sub. I think the new sub releases where very lackluster compared to the recent GMT releases which is also playing a big role in the popularity. |

Don’t worry just wear & alternate all of your watches, I do the same between Sub, GMT & Daytona.

I don’t think the OP’s question is what should be the fundamental basis for the enjoyment of their watches…
To answer your question, I imagine there are more made subs made than Daytonas. As for GMTs? Maybe, I’m not sure but I’m guessing that as you go up in price through the catalog, the less units they make of the more expensive models. Since the GMT costs slightly more perhaps there are slightly less made. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

Is it only 24?
Just trying to think it through, does that mean it be turned to account for the rare time zones which involve a half hour difference? My, non Rolex, GMT has 120 click turn bezel which helps with that.

Frankly everyone knows what a Diver's watch is; it's mainly the WIS that know what GMTs are.

Sub vs gmt

Good question…. Older GMTs had 48 clicks for half hour time zones. The Tudor gmt still has 48 clicks. Why they reduced it to 24, I don’t know. Time zones with half hour offsets are: India, Iran, parts of Canada, Sri Lanka, Myanmar, parts of Australia, Afghanistan That’s quite a lot of people……1.5 billion at least. |

I have sub for 3 years and BLNR for 4 months, submariner better for one watch collection and more solid piece , Gmt more elegant. Price if not hype the same.

GMT is more elegant. Sub is more of an everyday watch. For me at least.

I prefer my BLNR over my Sub. I like the flatter case back and Jubilee bracelet.

I own both and love them for different reasons. The GMT is my favorite complication, but I love Rolex divers the most … go figure

I had the 1166110ln and i loved the look of it but my wrist is on the smaller side so the sub was just a tad too big for me, especially with the way the caseback sticks out. Batman on the other hand fits perfectly and flush on my wrist. Both great watch tho.

People love Sub and GMT the same for different reasons. Own both is the right answer. It's like dress shoes, you own a black pair and then you will find yourself need a brown dress shoes for different occasion. No one can tell you black and brown dress shoes which is better to go after.

I’m a sub guy, fortunate to have two, 40mm black and bluesy ceramics. I own the Tudor gmt due to more vintage/tool feel for the GMT. The newer reference Rolex gmt’s are a little too dressy/shiny and don’t prefer large font on bezel. I’ll put on my datejust if I want some excess flash. My sport watches preference is more brushed overall. Great watches though, looking at potential pre-ceramic options down the line.

I've got both, current versions and the Sub is my everyday watch and the GMT for evenings and special occasions. The sub is great, but the GMT just feels a little bit more special.
