IWC and Panerai lost their luster to me someitme ago.

I am very intrigued by some JLC and Omega offerings. Breitling is not really my cup of tea. Although some of their watches appear to be very well built.

In the budget range, only GS gets the nod.
Anything else is well outside the range.

I'm not sure what you meant by the holy trinity ... but I don't own any watches between 3-5 k ... that sort of no man's land for me.

Breitling Navitimer since they started with their in-house movement. And the gold standard of automatic chronographs: Zenith El Primero Chronomaster. People who wear Zenith know about watches.

THOSE are watches (along with Omega Speedmaster & Seamaster).

Actually just picked up my first Grand Seiko. It’s a beautiful piece and I actually think it’s a better watch than the Batman, which I just sold.

Really need to see it in person to appreciate.

Vintage Breitling chronographs are criminally underrated.

For now, anyway.

JLC, Omega, Breitling, Grand Seiko, Girard Perregaux, Parmigiani. Buy recent used or serviced if possible. Never buy Girard Perregaux or Parmigiani new.

Since i love fast cars, i collect chronographs with a driver or car history. I have an Eberhart Tazio Nuvolari Grand Talle, a Heuer Monza celebrating Niki Lauda's 1st formula 1 championship with ferrari, a Rolex Daytona and i just picked up a Girard Perragaux celebrating Phil Hills 40th anniversary world championship driving the Ferrari F 156 in 1961. It was made in 2000 and it was never worn. I also collect unworn with stickers Rolex tool watches. So far an SD43, Daytona, 16610 Submariner.

$3-$5k is the Breitling range for me. Breitling doesn't get a lot of love but they are solid watches with in-house movements. At that price point going to be limited on Panerai, but I do still have a place in my heart for Pams. Never got into GS, Zenith, or IWC. Out of the three Zenith would be my pick.

JLC, GP, Grand Seiko all make serious watches around that price range.

Beautiful is right - especially with that lumed bezel

You mention Omega as one of the holy trinity. Agree, the Speedmaster and Seamaster are definite ones to own. The Seamaster range includes many smart looking watches, I have an Olympic Seamaster, red bezel with white dial, its a striking watch.
Breitling, yes for sure in particular their Chrono Avenger range. A bit on the large side however if titanium you don't feel it.
Zenith, yes for sure, some amazing Chronographs.
Panerai? Not sure, am still to be convinced with these. The bulk look of the watches tends to put me off.
You failed to mention Tudor. The Tudor Pelagos is a highly attractive watch IMHO. Don't own one but have seen it in real life and its yes definetly worth considering.
Grand Seiko. no not for me for two reason. I don't find them to be attractive looking watches plus I wouldn't pay over a $1000 for a Seiko (Grand or not Grand). Nothing against Seiko, I have a couple myself including a pristine Col Pogue all be it they are not Grand..

Omega part of the Holy Trinity? According to who?

The Holy Trinity is comprised of Patek, Vacheron & AP. Nobody else.

That's not to say that Omega doesn't make great watches. They do. I love the Speedmaster Pro and their Seamaster 300M. But Omega (much like Rolex) pump out 800,000 to 1 million watches per year.

It’s something else. They said it’s sapphire over ceramic. And the Lumibrite stays legible all night, more so than my Rolex.

It’s crazy accurate. I’m at +0.66 spd right now. Read an article that said high beat movements are able to be regulated better with more accurate timekeeping.

I do not think he meant Omega was part of the trinity, I think he was saying in addition to the three, not including, hence the backslash between them. Trinity is three, no more.....
