You won’t get any argument from me, nothing wrong with a DJ, still be popular long after this ‘sport’ model nonsense has moved on.

I think that the DJ is awesome, a classic for today and tomorrow, this and the next generation.

I agree, I have the same exact one. It's very dressy in that configuration, but can be sporty with smooth bezel and oyster bracelet.

The 36mm is just such a classic move. I still love mine after owning it for 18 years. Something about that white gold bezel and jubilee bracelet it’s just awesome.

+1 I don't know of anyone dissing the DJ -- there are so many threads here with folks praising the DJ and sharing their DJ incomings. Blue dial/fluted/jubilee and Wimbledon dial get a lot of love, not to mention the new motif dials.

The only time I hear people mention DJs and disappointment is when they are seeking other models (Rolex sports) at the AD and all that are there are DJ configurations that they are not interested in. Although these forum members lament the fact that there are no SS sport models available (and only less popularly configured DJs), I don't think they are knocking DJs in general.

It’s a strange game buying Rolex , OP s going for more money on the grey market than datejust 41 s direct from a AD and pretty much no wait depending on config..surely the DJ a better buy ...I never paid them too much interest until tried one in a AD was most impressed everything felt right pick my config waited a few months and couldn’t be happier ...

My best friend's father has worn his DJ36 every day since 1984- it stuck in my mind from a young age as went on all kinds of adventures together. The DJ36 handled it all, from mountain biking to surfing to skiing. The patina it wears today is truly impressive.

There are more than a few stories like this- sometimes I feel like older owners of DJ's are the only ones who truly wear these watches to the full extent of their capabilities. They have no need or interest for a collection- they simply let the DJ handle everything that comes it's way.

I have had about 4 different datejusts over the last decade and this is my favourite. Datejust 41 anthricite dial on oyster bracelet, casual and sporty, fits with everything, and do it all one watch. 20210414_131239.jpg

I owned the DJ 2 years ago and had to sell it because it was just too big looking on my wrist. the DJ 41 is a better fit and I have secured a beautiful tt with smooth bezel and oyster bracelet.....Im waiting till my bday to pick it up at my AD's.......not too long to wait luckily!

For some reason, a significant amount of current Rolex buyers only want “sport” or “sporty” models and then dismiss the Datejust in terms their own taste. And the fact that they are more readily available and don’t sell for 75% more than MSRP make them less interesting to some collectors. But from a technical standpoint (modern movement, great power reserve), looks standpoint and Rolex history standpoint, the Datejust is iconic and is recognized as so by most.

I wear my TT fluted bezel jubilee DJ with polo shirts, denim shirts, t-shirts and it doesn’t look out of place, the fluted bezel versions are more versatile than you may think
