Wow - Today's Sotheby's Auction - Hulk went for $13,750!

I forgot how I found out (ah, checked my browser, banner ad from Chrono24), but a few days ago I had seen a link for a Hulk slated for auction at Sotheby's. I was dreaming that it might be a secret and a good deal. Pffft! ha. funny.

The auction was today, a whole bunch of watches -- Hublot, AP, PP, and Rolex. Was interesting to peek in on it from my cell phone.

Seemed like there were some pretty good deals here and there.

Thought I'd mention the 116610LV, a G series from 2010 only with box went for $13,750 with the hammer premium! I think I'm missing something though -- did this one have some provenance to it??<--it must have, I didn't log in so I couldn't see the history / condition report. Anyone care to clarify here?

Yeah, and to add some icing on the cake, for all of us non-Hulkster but circling in the waters for one -- 2 years ago same auction one went for $6750.

I think this was a decent deal - $5250 for a white face explorer, w/ papers etc, those are always very buyer dependent though and kind of hit or miss, but ~$5k for a 5 digit is not bad, yes??

I always thought that the 116610lv was random serial. Pretty cool though. Thanks for sharing.

G series and Random both ran at same time.

What makes this even more interesting is that I’m fairly certain that the last of the 16610lv was random. So odd, then, that they would have letter series for the beginning of the 116610lv. I used to think that that was all kinda insignificant and simply a matter of timing but, based on what they did with the two Lvs, it seems like there is some kind of intentionality there.

I've been eyeing the Hulk for over a year now, but the more I see of this hysteria the more I am looking at another model.
