5711 Dial Change
Hey guys, wanted to bounce something off of everyone on the forum. My 5711a blue dial just came back from a routine service (had the watch since late 2013, stopped keeping good time, just sent it in to work on the movement).
It came back today, but with the newer blue dial on it (larger patek logo). To my knowledge, there was nothing wrong with the other dial, and Patek certainly never contacted me or the AD to say anything extra had to be done. the Patek paperwork says just a movement service was performed, and no polishing. Anyone experience this before? Am i wrong to be disappointed that they did this? |

Im surprised they would do it without charging you, they are relatively expensive to just replace like that for free

Do you have before and after pics? The service centre wouldn't replace a dial unless requested/damaged but they would for sure notify you and charge you for the dial part.

I'd be happy with that, prefer the new bolder font.

You should make a inquiry and ensure your original dial doesn't disappear and they acknowledge that the dial change was not marked on service paper to be changed. I didn't know Patek would swap for a newer dial as they preserve watches to their original production year if possible. Hopefully they just give your old dial back and then you can switch back whenever

I will be surprised if this happens to my watch after servicing. Please do enquire Patek as suggested by other members. If there is going to be a "mandatory" change of dial, there should be communication and acknowledgement from you before and after the service IMO.

That’s crazy. I’d want the original on it. Maybe you’ll get bonus new dial out of it. Hope they didn’t toss it. Silly question, you sure it’s YOUR watch

I prefer the newer dial as well - but I would want the dial that was original to my watch.

Very interesting issue. I am very curious to hear what Patek has to say.

Some idiot probably scratched it as noted above. Interested to hear their response.

Whoa. Personally, I want my watches to be as original as possible. I would be seething over this... Perhaps Patek is going downhill.

Interesting. I'd also speculate the original was damaged some how. I would be on the fence, I prefer the newer dial, but also value the original condition.

I am not sure how I would feel about this, guess its a good and bad thing. At the end of the day, I suspect I would want the original dial on it.
