The Case for the WG BLRO

Hello everyone, I just wanted to take the time to share some observations I've had regarding the new SS Pepsi release and hopefully get your thoughts on something that's been puzzling me. Maybe even some from our current WG BLRO owners.

I may be wrong -or it's just too early to tell- but it seems like the general sentiment or at least expected reaction to the new Pepsi by current WG Pepsi owners at the most is offense and in the least, disappointment.

To our WG BLRO owners. What were your first reactions to the SS Pepsi?
And why?
Here comes the crux. "Stealth wealth," a virtue stated by many WG owners and aspirers. If its purpose is to please oneself, would it be unreasonable to be disappointed if you found yourself among a sea of SS Pepsis (After the 2-10 waitlist)? If I was an original owner, I don't think I would be. White gold at the end of the day is still white gold.

As a person who both loves the Pepsi bezel and PM pieces in their own right, when the original WG BLRO was first released I understood why people were upset that they weren't more accessible and made in their original metal - stainless steel. Yet I could also see why Rolex would update one of their most loved references in beautiful white gold.

Of course one reason to enjoy a watch is its exclusivity. Could the Pepsi be too good for that?

There is a thread on this subject.

Exclusivity will still be the name for both the SS and the WG Pepsi.

But for different reasons.

Sorry! If there is, could you link me to it? The Pepsi is kind of the watch of the moment and didn't see a specific one about WGs merits.

Yes very true. Relatively, it's still more accessible than a WG price wise if we aren't taking into account the difficulty of obtaining one. Tudor is offering one now as well, which is also why I made the comment.

I’m a WG Pepsi owner and am happy that Rolex decided to introduce the watch in SS so that more people could enjoy the look.

If one is really concerned about exclusivity, buy a Patek.

My sediments exactly. You are reading a lot of these posts telling you how WG owners feel from people that dont own one. I have read them all and the majority dont care either way.

People keep saying WG BLRO owners are not happy and disappointed are those who do not own the WG BLRO.
