Additional info from the original owner.
"It was purchased new at the Rolex Boutique in New York for $125.00. My father wore it a bit diving and at work before putting it away in favor of a different watch. It was serviced by Rolex in the 1980's and again 1995 I believe. They took out the original dial as well as other parts during one of those servicing because as I am sure you know, the collectors market was not what it is now and no one seems to care about that. It was then serviced again by Rick Dietle at Time Care Inc. in April of last year. He was recommended to me by Rolex as the person who was best suited to service it correctly using original parts. His website is www.timecareinc.com. He has many fantastic reviews on the Rolex Forum, Watch U Seek, and many others. He replaced the movement parts that needed to be replaced, swapping the dial for a fresh one, replaced the bezel, bezel ring, crystal, and hands. That is about all I know. It sat unused for over a decade in a sock drawer since it was not running accurately after its last servicing by Rolex. " |
