Thoughts On Cartier Watches

Just curious to hear some general opinions on Cartier watches.

I've had a Pasha de Cartier for several years that's never been one of my favorites, but, recently got the new blue Santos and I love it.

I tried on the Ballon Bleu last weekend as really liked that as well. If the blue dial Ballon Bleu came on a bracelet, I probably would have bought it.

Wish the santos had an exhibition case back otherwise I'd own one!

I agree on this totally. I with the Ballon Bleu had one as well! If it did, I definitely would have bought it last weekend!

I think some of what Cartier does is fantastic and iconic. I'm not a fan of the Ballon Bleu myself, but if I were going to buy a watch for my wife and myself, I'd buy her a Tank and a Santos for myself. I really like the Santos and I think the Tank is perhaps the most iconic ladies watch.

Rolex taste....Timex budget

I do like some references. An added bonus is that you can walk into a store and actually buy one

Had a couple early in my watch years and sold them. Really like the new Santos, probably one of the best value propositions.

I have a Tank and while appreciate it a lot, I don’t wear it much. I do like the Santos, especially newer line, and have considered trading the Tank towards one but: 1) I don’t have box/papers for Tank so won’t get a lot for it and it would make sense to add not trade 2) if I did have it I wonder if I’d also appreciate it more than actually wearing it.

Nonetheless, I like Cartier and highly respect them. Wonderful brand that I keep on my radar.

That's exactly where I am with my Santos. I LOVE it - I think it's a beautiful watch. I just don't wear it as often as I would like. But, I have several watches that fit that description - my Montblanc perpetual calendar, my Omega PO GMT; heck, even my DayDate doesn't get much wrist time. It seems I almost always default to the SkyDweller or the YachtMaster - maybe because they're the newest toys?

Anyway, these are the two I currently have. I really think I will end up with the Ballon Bleu also.

Cartier is fantastic. Great history. Elegance and timeless are what spring to mind when I think of the brand. I’d consider a Tank or Santos for my next watch.

That blue santos is beautiful. I'm really contemplating the WSSA0039, the all black version with rubber & leather strap.

I gifted a Tank Francaise to my wife for an anniversary recently and was pleasantly surprised to learn about the investments Cartier has made in the last few years to improve their watchmaking. My dealer said the quality rapidly improved (and was already very good). There are a couple of in depth articles floating around that talk about Cartier stepping up its game. And the two-tone tank is so beautiful.

Love the classic designs. I too have the blue Santos, though I've had to send the leather strap back. The leather atop the piece that locks into the watch came unglued. Not sure if it's covered by warranty (a little over a year now) but it's not a good look in my books. Hopefully they do what's right.

To me, they are timeless classics. My wife wears a tank on a daily basis. My Santos is one of the most comfortable in the collection...Very versatile.

Was looking at their website last night. Do they no longer make a diver? Didn't see any on their website...

Any variant of the classic Tank design is just timeless to me. Guy or gal. If you need a dressier piece, this will fill that role with panache.

The "exploding" Roman numerals are the only design I've seen that prints the numerals on the dial in a way that makes the watch actually look classier. It's usually the opposite.

Also, the way the dial is designed, it's extremely easy to read the time at a glance.

I admire any Tank design, even the vintage, but budget-minded Must De Cartier quartz's that are 50+ years old.
