New Speaker day...

Thankfully I was able to grab the last pair of Klipsch Jubilee speakers (of the original Paul w Klipsch design) that will ever be built.
Thank You BTC

Out with the old...

In with the NEW...

and in case you were curious as to why the Bass Bin looks like it does... the Genius of Paul w Klipsch design is evident.

Nice! What are you using for your amp and preamp? I remember back to my college and post college days. A lot of friends had Klipsch. A buddy managed the outlet store for a big high end audio store here, so he got everyone sweet deals. In fact, his nickname was Johnny Sweet Deals! Then Magnepan became the next thing that everyone worked up to since they are made here locally. Those things are so huge that I couldn't justify the space they would take up, and now I don't even use my amp and preamp anymore. I should connect everything in my office!

Holy Moly! Man I would love to hear how they sound. Many many years ago I partook in some Acoustic Research speakers, and I thought they were the bomb.

Congrats!

Turn them on full blast, I’ll bet I can hear them here in San Diego.

Klipsch are the best! I have a set of Klipsch Heresy speakers I got in 1980 when they were still made in Hope, Arkansas

OK, this is a dorklehead question…. But don’t you have to have an incredible receiver to drive those gargantuas? I am thinking my Bose Lifestyle wouldn’t cut it.

A receiver or amp that puts out 150W per channel at 8 ohms should be good

Interesting. I was literally just about to ask if each of those speaker cabinets had built in storage cubbies on either side!!

I read with wonder and a lot of envy about your last speakers not long ago, are these that much better? It is not a confrontational question, I ask it because I don't know the answer. I absolutely think that your sound system will be so good that, with one's eyes closed, one wouldn't be able to know when a live performer isn't in the room.

Many, many congratulations, I bet it sounds fabulous. What is the very first piece of music you will play?

Please, please give your thoughts when the speakers are fully "run in."

What does your wife think of them!?!

I say jokingly as I think the WAF is a 0 here, but I love it. Do these klipsch lines have the bright tone of their normal store offerings? What is the sensitivity, Id imagine they go pretty hard on moderate power.

Aaah, here's where math geeks can rejoice! You see, these speakers are highly efficient with Wattage, so only 25 Watts is louder than 250 Watts with other less efficient designs. I had hornnspeakers running off an 8 Watt 300B tube amp.

Believe me, these Klipsch speakers at 100 Watts will..... well....

Have you ever seen the Maxell commercial? Yeah, it's like that.

Indeed... these speakers have a 105db sensitivity.

for those that don't know this means, these speakers will reach 105 decibels with ONE WATT.

they will absolutely kill your hearing if you are NOT careful, because the drivers can handle much more power than that.

to get to the crux of the biscuit, it's not about how loud they can get, it's about the realism and spacial qualities that are imparted by a properly designed Horn Lens. if you look around the interweb, you can find many different horn configurations with varying expansion rates and 'polar' patterns, but the voicing on Klipsch horns designed by Paul w. Klipsch and Roy Delgado are engineered in a way that is natural and uncolored. Having a LARGE horn in a small room helps to control directivity and dispersion... and imparts a realism, spatially, to the music that can not be had any other way... except by maybe VERY high end electrostatics...

Certainly they are not the only horn loaded speaker builders, but they are among the best. you really can not compare the reference line and lower tier Klipsch speakers with the heritage and upper tier professional line... the voicing is completely different.

there is a reason brass instruments are designed with a unique horn flare.

ultimately my goal is to get something like these Western Electric horns that were designed in the VERY early 1900's... they are magnificent. Klipsch jubilees a just as good in there own way.

Thanks for the additional info. I bet they sound amazing.

Not a fan of the big box klipsch signature sound but these sound like they’re a whole different level.

I love big, efficient speakers. My next HT setup will be along that vain, something that can get real “dynamic” on a receiver like JTR or similar. Of course I will still throw a ton of power at subs lol.

I suspect these are even more than JTR or some of the commercial style things I’ve looked at. Beautiful.

Wow, as an audiophile who spends way too much on equipment, I can certainly appreciate those. The beauty is you can run them with some great tube amps. Congrats and enjoy to the fullest!

Congratulations! I love love love big efficient speakers with horns/waveguides and compression driver tweeters. My current dream speakers are RTJ 410 speakers for the front 3 behind an acoustically transparent screen. 44" x 22.5" x 15" 3-way beasts each with 4 10" woofers and a huge waveguide with coaxial mid/tweeter, 100dB sensitivity. These do require subwoofers for optimal performance of the system. One can dream....

Too bad BR isn't here, he's probably got a few still new in the box

Absolutely amazing speaker set up.

I love the cabinets on your old ones though, what model are those?
