Does the custom PVD coating increase or decrease the value in a Rolex?

I would never do that to my Rolex watches, although I do like PVD/DLC watches.

It chips and looks terrible, having owned one I feel qualified to make this statement , Sold it at a large loss , I couldn’t find anyone to reverse the process not in the U.K. but was offered the service is Switzerland 🇨🇭 €2,000 Swiss francs

PVD is a crap material for coating watches.I have seen so many PVD watches
with problems because of this stuff.And it costs a fortune to repair a watch with marks on it. Most brands have stopped using it. |

A good substitute is the Tudor Black Bay in Black... it’s awesome. Just gave mine to a friend and need to find another one...

PVD coating
I wouldn’t consider modifying a watch.
Tudor makes a nice ceramic chronograph with an alcantara strap. I’ve been contemplating on adding it to my collection.

That’s weird to hear about those PVD coated Rolexes. I’ve wondered about those but was never really interested in buying one. Porsche Design got it right in the mid 70s. I wanted to have a Porsche so badly in the 70s, I bought this watch a year before I could afford to buy my 78 911 Targa. The PVD still looks pretty good on this one after 40 plus years...
