Pink Datejust 36

I’m having a hard time finding out an exact color of a pink watch, I’ve been on the search for this watch and very specific about the pink color I want (the lighter baby pink ) I went to the AD and of course the pink they have on the website and book is exactly what i want but they have nothing in stock to see in person.

All the preowned sites have either the same stock photos or in the listing the pics look inconsistent of the same watch. For example each pic for 1 watch looks like a totally different pink in every photo

For example some lighting makes it look salmon, or darker pink. I’ve never seen such a major inconsistency of the dial color and afraid to purchase site unseen. I’ve contacted a few dealers and they won’t send me actual pics or video and just tell me to go on Rolex site (which I have done )

Is this common with Rolex sellers ? Its super frustrating to not be able to see real time pics for a watch this expensive. I got my first preowned Breitling and had no prob with those sellers sending me true pics and one even FaceTimed me. Any suggestions ? I can’t upload a pic here since I’m a new member

The last time I looked at a pink dialed Rolex was for my wife at my AD. It definitely would be described as salmon and it was more or less an exact match as far as the color on the Rolex site.
I did not buy it, wife was a hard pass.

Welcome to the forum Melissa.

I’d discuss your concern with the AD and see what they have to say. I assume the dial will look as they promote it on their website. Caveat, Rolex dials are bit chameleon like

Most ADs have very little inventory now. Since you’re in Florida, you could see if DavidSW has one.

I bought a pink dialed DJ 31 late last year and love it. The pink is hard to describe as it seems to "change color" based on the environment and/or clothes you wear. Some days it is the lightest pink and other days it really pops. I love the dial just for that.

Try WatchRecon and select the Rolex brand. Put pink in the search box. There are trusted sellers from this forum who have recently had watches with pink dials with lots of photos.

Good luck!

I own a stainless and white gold datejust 31 mm (new model) with the pink dial and it is absolutely gorgeous! It is a more of a shade of a light salmon, but it definitely changes color depending on the lighting.

It is a sophisticated pink shade, not the candy, bubble gum pink.

I absolutely love it! I also get compliments on it all the time.

I personally think that it is a beautiful dial.

OP36 is also a very popular pink dial from Rolex. No date though...
Jenni Elle loves hers.

I just bought a DJ 36 Pink Floral. That an option? It is discontinued but local dealer has one with diamond bezel so I could see in person but ended buying buying the non - diamond version pre owned.

It certainly is very difficult to see any of the Rolex models in real life. Any dealer in my city has very few. Especially the newer Oyster Perpetual models with the pink dial. I'm a guy, but I love pink, and would really like to see one in real life myself!

Wish I could give you some advice. Do you have any relationship at all with the AD? You could ask if they would call you when they get one in, which of course would be for another client. At least you could see the color in real life. Also, if the require a deposit. It seems like you can't really order a new Rolex. The AD seems to have pretty much only what Rolex sends them available. They get a watch, then see who in next on the list for that model. Of course, some ADs will not even put you on a list if you have no prior history with them.

Come to think of it, I have seen a pink dial Datejust 36. It was a dial with Roman Numerals and some diamonds. But it was definitely pink, not salmon or some other variant. It is beautiful.

Good luck with your search. Let us know when you make your decision.

Cheers,
Carl

So the color you want, Candy Pink, or Baby Pink as you described, is only going to come on the 36mm Oyster Perpetual (and 31).... if you go with any Datejust it’s going to be a Sunray finished Salmon color, even the OP Pink is the same Salmon color, Candy Pink is a lacquer and it’s the color your looking for.... however getting one is a whole other story. How do I know this, I’m a specialist at a Boutique and I’ve sold Rolex for 25 years. Any other questions just ask.

She's looking for a datejust 36 which would be the more salmon pink. (according to her post)

What Dunhill98 said in post #12.

Sure would be nice if you could side-by-side compare the Rolex Candy Pink and the Sunray Pink. Not likely to happen, though.

Everyone here knows about 'Rolex frustration.'

Welcome to the forum, Melissa !!!

Can’t you order one or go on the “list”, then when it comes in, if you don’t like it, leave it for someone else?

I’m sure photos will give you a pretty good idea meanwhile

Thank you everyone so much for your feedback ! I did find one the day it hit the website of the reseller I got it from 3 weeks ago . It’s a 36 date just 126234 pink dial with the Roman with diamonds on the 6 & 9 . Made in 2019 with original box and papers. It’s a beautiful watch but as I suspected the dial is like a chameleon depending on lighting and what I wear. I was hoping for something lighter.

So I’m not sure what options I have 🤔 I read If i change the dial to a mop for example (if I could even find one ) I would have to trade in the pink dial . So I couldn’t keep it for the future if so wanted to switch back … I know with other watches depreciation is a big factor however since it’s a Rolex and unique color wonder if I would get hit hard doing a trade or sell back … or if I’m stuck and should just get a second one lol .

One unauthorized dealer said that they can make an aftermarket dial but I would know the difference and not wanting to do that for this watch . I do like that it’s not that old at all but really would like something lighter for an every day watch . Now since I got it I don’t want to pull out my Breitlings

Thank you ! It was hard to see on the FaceTime call but in direct sunlight it’s the beautiful light baby pale pink , in reg light more of the salmon . So odd how it’s like a chameleon

My wife just received her OP31 candy Pink; she loves it. It was ordered last Sept, so 9 months in the making but worth it.

I just ordered one of these, though I haven't seen one. The sunburst dials on the OP's and some DJ models really change shade a lot depending upon the light.

My wife bought one last week. We sold an OP36 yellow dial for it that she had since last September.
She missed the date and the bright yellow dial gets a bit much after a while.
I think that would be the same with the OP36 Pink dial.

Anyway.,the DJ36 is a far more grown up pink than the OP36 bubble gum pink.

It does change colour a lot, depending on the light and its one of the things she loves about it. Sideways on, it has a sort of bronze tinge to it.

I think it's an absolutely stunning colour.

I definitely wouldn't change the dial for a none Rolex one. You run into issues once none Rolex parts are added at service time etc.

If you want the MOP dial ask if it can be swapped by Rolex. Or consider trading for a MOP.

Personally, I think it's a very mature and pale pink. Maybe live with it a while?
Many people on here have regrets when they make hasty decisions.

My wife also has the mid size Yachtmaster (platinum bezel/dial). Its the only mid size professional model Rolex make and they make an ideal pair. The mid size Yachtmaster in platinum (or Rhodium) are fairly neutral and can be worn with anything.

Maybe sell the Breitlings and add another Rolex?

Ty so much ! The color pics are so accurate. This is it and mine has the oyster bracelet. I just feel it looks more bronze than pink most of the time esp inside . But it is a beautiful watch. My company branding is a light pink so that was also the appeal for me initially. It was hard to find so it will prob make sense to hold on to it. I’m a new collector and learned the hard way about resale . (Esp my Chopard) So I’ll take too much of a hit on the Breitlings since I’ve had them less than a year. But I do like those (esp my 41)

I contacted an online seller for a quote to sell and it’s $3k less than what I paid. Crazy hit to take after just 3 weeks of ownership . I haven’t heard back from the place I purchased it from yet maybe about a trade. I do like that it’s a 2019 model. I would hate to trade it for a much older watch for example just for a diff dial . I’m learning …. I did have a grace period to return it but I really thought the more I wore it, I wouid be happy even with the color change. (Maybe more diamonds will brighten it up 🤣. It is gorgeous but for my first “bigger” Rolex Just wanted to be in love. I hate that I don’t want to wear it as my daily watch everyday for the price I paid.
