Between these two I would pick the 519.

Now for the tough question - When do you think US ADs will have oysterflex Daytona models for sale again?

By Summer? Fall? Christmas? .....

White gold looks great but can’t do it without the bracelet.

I was just about to trade my 519 for the 500 (cause FOMO) but backed off at the last second and I’m glad I did.

I feel like you have to take the 519 outside for a spin to really get it, since I’ve been stuck at home on lockdown for months here in Italy I’ve only worn my watch inside the house for the most part and it’s nice but also eh...

However when I finally went out this weekend and the sunlight was hitting the watch, I swear I could not take my eyes off of it.

Then when I went to the shop to try the 500 and decide on the trade, i’d be lying if I told you that the 500 didn’t pop more, but once again, I was indoor, walked by the window to get some natural light on both of them and boy there is no competition, the 519 almost becomes a living thing.

Slightly off topic, I know this thread is purely about looks, but what finally put me off the trade was taking off my WG to put on the SS , it was my first time ever wearing a SS Daytona and being so used to the white gold it felt like I was wearing a 30$ Casio, and trading a PM Rolex for a SS + add 500€ On top definitely didn’t feel righ to me.
Sorry about this last part, but has been hunting me for days and needed to get it out of my chest

So, what would you trade a 116500 for while they are priced so high? AP, Patek?

Both incredible. Although Im biased, I still prefer that bright white porcelain look of the SS.

Either 500 for sure! You'll never get used to the rubber strap. Will always wish you had the oyster bracelet, trust me!

It’s such a subjective thing because I much prefer the look of the oysterflex.

I saw the 519 on YouTube at the weekend and I don't think I've ever seen a more beautifully balanced watch. I tried on Daytona for the first time yesterday and I totally get it. Very very special.
I'm doing a 700 mile round trip to try the 519 and a few other watches as obviously no AD has any hot models. I rely on pics in this forum but like so many say pics do the watches no justice. I'm obsessed with the 519. I just hope in person it lives up to my expectations. I'm very confident it will. I couldn't afford to go grey but will patiently wait however long through an AD.

Grey prices are improving. I’m waiting for my dealer too

My first impression was the white Daytona. But then got thinking that white is really hard to pull off. Too shiny and it starts to look like your bathroom. Too matte and it doesn't look premium. So I'm hard steering towards the black SS.

The OF looks really good during the day I bet. But I'm not bought into the OF side yet.

I like the black dial - it matches with the bezel.

What a great post! I know a watch addict friend who has owned 2 white dial 116500 and sold them both (AD came through weeks after he bought grey) because they were dinky on his 19cm wrist. He is still pining for the 19, hoping that Oysterflex bigs up the watch. And the full panda sub-dials make a big difference. Good luck on your 700 mile voyage. Hope you have the range if it’s an EV. But those grey dial Newmans are very special.

Black dial on oyster

But if you need a rubber strap, there is always RubberB.

Wasn’t an option but I’ve always loved the black dial Daytona. Super wearable.

Aesthetically: What looks nicer, Daytona white dial 116500 vs the 116519?

Yes 519 and it isn't close. White dial of Daytona looks like a melamine dinner plate up close. Gloss black is beautiful but sunburst and panda sub dials with polished trim takes it.

116500 white, black, then 116519.
I absolutely love the oysterflex and the slate dial, but for me a steel watch is far more durable and wearable to take a beating.
I also have a preference towards full bracelets over rubber/leather straps.

An awesome problem to have picking between the 3.

A 509 has been my usual daily wearer for four years, and I continue to love it to pieces.
