It looks thiker than it actually wears. Any wrist over 7.25'' or flat wrists shouldn't have an issue. I've had the original version and now the updated JC and the thicker bracelet and small tweaks does make it wear more comfortable.

Yes, that's a Deep Black.

I'm a big guy at 6'1" and 212lbs but have relatively thin wrists at 6.25" and the DSSD looks fine on me, bearing in mind that at the bicep my arm is 18" so scale-wise it works. It's a big watch no doubt, and Rolex did nothing to conceal the fact so it wears even bigger. It's the same thickness as my Seamaster 300 Chronograph but again, wears much larger.

Please pardon the terrible color in my picture.

As you can see above, it’s a very thick watch and it wears even thicker because of the giant flat sides. The case back also pushes it up a bit higher off the wrist. It was a no go for me.
I’m a big guy and I can wear a big watch, but I didn’t like the block of steel esthetic.
Though that may appeal to others.

Very nice. I’ve always thought that fitting a watch to someone is more about just wrist size. I have 6.75” wrists, but I’m a muscular dude (5’ 9” 220-230 pounds) so 42mm+ watches look best on me.

Agreed - it’s a great watch, large but well-proportioned. So if you like substantial watches like the Deepsea, I’d say go for it.

Fwiw, I find the Deepsea equally balanced as my SD43 and 116600. Just different sizes.

It’s a badass watch, for sure.

Congrats to those who can pull it off. Lol

Closest photo I have for a side shot right now.
Close up photos make the DSSD appear larger than it fits on the wrist as well.

After wearing a DSSD for a little while, not just trying it on - the question then becomes "Why are my other watches so frustratingly thin!"

Honestly, it's thick, but it seems to sink into the wrist more than it appears it would. I think this is the design of the caseback. In my opinion, as long as you have a flat-ish wrist it will wear as well as an SD43, if not better.

I was in Zurich for business and became unwell (this was before the current Covid-19 outbreak), and so went to a Swiss clinic for treatment - while there the attending Doctor and I got talking about the Deep Sea as he has one also. He articulated what I love about this watch really well when he said that he looks forward to putting it on in a way that he doesn't feel with any of his other watches. He thought that was due to it's presence on the wrist...he always knows he is wearing it, even though it's so comfortable.

James Cameron Thickness

I tried one on last week. I found that even though it is thicker than my SD43 it wears surprisingly well. I’m on the list for one hopeful to have it soon pending the Coronavirus shut down(which is more important than a watch)

Love the DSSD. Looks great in pics and even on the wrist when looking straight down. Feels too thick to be worn on a regular basis on my puny wrists. I have a sub 7 inch wrist.

Spectacular watch! 9" wrists so carry it well. That being said the simplicity and size of my Submariner makes for a difficult decision over which Rolex to wear--oftentimes I switch them out over the day!

Definitely can relate to you and dr. Always a looking forward to the days I wear it and sometime wish it was my only watch so I could wear it everyday! That presence it commands is just awesome.

It’s my most favorite watch. Extremely comfortable and even though I feel it’s weight when I first put it on, I forget it’s there after a bit.

Sounds like you have the wrist for it, personally I think you'll love it. I've posted in a lot of threads about this lately, but basically I'd say that either the perceived "flaws" of the DSSD are greatly overblown on this forum, or my tastes are completely different than most around here, which is fine with me.

Yes, it's big, fat, & heavy. It's also my favorite watch.
I've worn different Rolex for many years, and interestingly enough,I've gotten the most compliments on the DSSD.

It is unbelievably thick, especially for a Rolex. Try it on before committing to the purchase. You can pull off the size with your wrist but that doesn't mean you are going to love the watch.

Agree 100%. It is my only Rolex purchase that I regret. I tried it on before purchase and thought I would get used to it.....nope. I bought it because I love the JC dial.
