4 Stainless Steels vs 1 PM model

Hello everyone,

Just wanted to know if you prefer to own 4 different SS models or just 1 Grail PM model?

The total price of the 4 SS is roughly just the same as the One PM model.

I am just curious of what everyone thinks, are you a 1 grail watch person or the more is always the better?

Cheers!

Good question, I'd love a full rose gold chnr but not sure I'd part with all 4 of SS models.

I agree with the above that one PM and One SS would be ideal. I’d probably go with a WG Daytona with blue dial and then a SS sub or GMT

I’d go with the PM, depending on model of course

Platinum Daytona, it also weighs about the same as 4 SS watches.

(I know that's not true platinum daytona 282g but it feels really heavy - still not got mine but oneday)

Considering the same thing. I’ll still have couple of SS Tudor(BB58 & BB Chrono) as my daily. My PM choice would be WG Sub or Rosegold GMT.

If out for an upscale dinner, it would be nice if I had that one heavy hitter PM, but for the other 95% of my activities, the 4 steel would be more fun and practical to own, so definitely 4 steel. Especially if a daytona and BLRO were in the mix.

This for me. I kept my sub date as that will be handed down to my kid. PM WG Sub is my daily.

I agree with this. Having an SS piece to alternate with feels ideal to me. I’ve been a 1 PM and 1 SS guy for 3 years and have been enjoying it

1 grail PM for me!
What’s the point in having 4 ordinary stainless steel watches that you don’t love, surely makes sense to own the one special grail watch and wear it daily

I prefer SS so I would go with 4 SS but I guess it might depend on the models vs the 1 PM.

For me....it depends on which 4 and which 1 grail. Although no matter the grail, I’d want one SS to accompany it.

The actual movement is exactly the same in a PM as the 4 SS models so you are paying a lot for a candy shell. Unless you can bankroll a PM model comfortably without trade, I would never recommend sacrificing multiple SS models for one. You will be stuck with one look and probably nervous as hell you have so much money on your wrist. We have seen this way too many times on the forum over the last decade. Hairline scratches become unbearable torture to live with and the owner eventually buys a POS beater.

As a collector I can't do just 1 watch. So 4 SS.

Plenty of guys go with 1 watch, often a PM DD. Envious of them! Wish I could just do 1 watch.

If I had to id do, WG Blue dial Daytona and a Patek 5970J for dress.

For Rolex, 4 SS give more flexibility unless you are a one watch person. As someone said, you are paying a steep premium for the case and bracelet.

Depends on the rest of your collection- I wouldn’t sacrifice all my SS Rolex for one PM Rolex . But one and one would be a good pair.
