Grey Trade (Unused but loved Rolex)

Hi all - happy Sunday!

Looking for some advice on a potential trade please? I have a Sub 114060 and a Milgauss 116400GV that I love to look at but don't ever wear. Having only 3 Rolexes I have been thinking of trading them (grey) for something I would rotate with my Sub 126610LN.

Options could be:

1. GMT - Batman or TT Rootbeer (+ some cash back?)
2. Daytona - TT (any dial really but preferably the champagne and diamonds)
3. Sub "Blusey" plus a little cash back
4. Yacht Master II (116680)
5. YG Day Date - vintage (ish) plus maybe a little cash in if needed

Might be that I stick with admiring from a far and keep them in the safe but it seems a waste if I am only waiting for value to rise and then sell or trade anyway. Someone else could love them now whilst I love something else.

Thoughts and opinions welcomed

No use in just staring at them. Trade them in for a GMT

I would go all the way to Day-Date.

Depends if you want full dress, then it’s a DD or an everyday that can also be dress, then Rootbeer GMT.

Rootbeer if you'll actually wear it. I don't think you'll be getting any cash back though.

Thanks for the replies and advice everyone. Have an appointment with my AD next month so will decide once I know what he has to say about next possible AD purchase. Will probably go GMT but the TT Daytona has been a wish of mine for a while and was supposed to get one this year retail before they discontinued the dial I ordered

The Batman or the Pepsi would do the trick. I move watches along if I do not wear them.

The GMT would be my choice, but it would be the BLRO bezel.

If you are keeping your sub, I say either Daytona or DayDate as the GMT is similar to the sub and I don't really care for the YMII.

I recently picked up a 116503 Daytona (black, not Champaign dial) and I really love it. It's so nice on the wrist and plays the "dressier watch" role in my collection. It's also the most affordable way to get into a new Daytona LOL :)

Do you really expect others to make decisions for you?
All that this type of post becomes (and there are hundreds of them over the years,) is nothing more than people telling you what THEY want.

(You DID welcome thoughts and opinions!)

Flip the 126610LN for the Batgirl. You'll get more for the new hot sub, and then you can swap the bracelets between the 114060 and the 126710BLNR for a change of pace. Plus, you keep your discontinued sub.

+1

Also, if you don't wear the Milgauss, then consider moving it along. Good general rule of thumb is if the watch doesn't get the wrist time, then maybe it's not a keeper...

I'd get a 16710 with all three bezels and maybe a DJ with anything left over. Not a fan of the modern day GMTs.

I won’t comment on which watches to get, but an undercurrent of your post seems to be the moving a watch dilemma (forgive me if I mistook your intent). I recently went through this an agonized over letting a watch go that had been with me for a long time with some perceived sentimental value. I had never let a watch go before.
I found myself forcing it into my rotation out of guilt, so I finally made the decision to move it. It was a bit liberating after the initial sense of trepidation. No regrets and it will free me to move watches that I’ve grown out of much more quickly in the future...as many have said only you can decide but if your thinking about it, then perhaps you’ve already decided subconsciously?? Good luck..

Thanks, and you are right (partially). An opinion thread is there to collate opinions and in this case discuss my current Rolex dilemma. If I had grown out of love with my favourite pasta dish I would consult someone knowledgabe about other dishes in the same food group. When you trade or buy a new car I am sure most people will discuss it with a partner, friend or other appropriate forum (perhaps). It does not necessarily lead to a decision made by consensus but perpetuates ideas and opinion made from a common interest. All opinions welcome though as I originally said

This sounds like a potential good idea in all honesty - thanks

Gmt is nice but I felt it was too similar to my sub date when I had my blnr. If you can live with 2 almost identical looking watches in your only collection then go for it. I’d go for more variety like a DD.

Yeah some really smart people on here. Definitely prefer the BLNR over a submariner date. So I would do that, sell the new sub and get a batman with those funds, then put the bracelet from the 114060 on it. Bingo, the most perfect daily.

Then you send in the 114060 for a new bracelet, and once it comes back, offload it as well as the milgauss for that TT daytona you've been wanting.

If it were me in your shoes I'd probably go for a DD40 instead of the daytona.
