DJ41 Jubilee Everyday wear and tear

Good evening everyone,

So this is the first time I am posting. I have searched the forum and haven't found the question I am looking to have answered.

My first watch I purchased was a sub c date and I love the watch. I pretty much never take it off and it has taken a beating, which is why I enjoy it. I just had it serviced and had them do everything but polish it because I love the look of a watch that looks used.

I recently have been looking at the DJ41 126333 and I was curious as to how they hold up to abuse. I swim, surf, do yard work, and everything else you can think in my sub and have never worried about it. I'm not worried about dings and scratches, I just want to know if It will take the abuse my sub does.

Thanks in advance for the comments and If there is already a post about this I apologize.

My current sub below.

It’ll take anything you can throw at it, and more.

Great watch.

I prefer the smooth bezel version. But that’s just personal taste. Awesome watch in any iteration.

I have found the Date Just to be a very robust watch. You should have no issues.

As good as it gets. Designed for long term daily wear. My father wore his for decades (obviously 36) before passing on to me and still looks good after 30+ years.

My DJ has done all of those things. Scratches will be more prevalent due to polishing compared to the brushed sub.

You'll be fine, beat it like it owes you money. It can take it.

Worn essentially daily for over 2 years, hiking, at work, yard work, beach, etc. Father has a 5 digit version that has been worn daily for 30+ years. It holds up very well and the jubilee/fluted bezel combo do hide micro scratches that might otherwise be visible on an oyster bracelet/flat bezel.

Apart from the clasp, it’s actually very difficult to photograph or appreciate with the naked eye any signs of wear on this watch. Though, if you look through a loup you will find micro scratches, to prove I don’t baby it lol. You don’t notice this to the naked eye at all though.

If I was going with a DJ for everyday use I would go smooth bezel on oyster. Even better an Explorer.

No matter what you go with they will take the abuse.

I don’t think there’s ever been a Rolex that couldn’t take whatever you can dish out. Get your DJ and enjoy it like your Sub.

Hey. That's a decent looking watch.

I'm old school. Not really, I never went to school but I think battle scars are something to be proud of.

DJ can take anything a Sub can outside of depth in a dive. Unless you dive 330+ feet on the regular, a DJ will do anything. Great looking Sub too

It's still a Rolex, meaning the tank of watch world.
Don't worry about it, it'll take any abuse.

My acquisitions has been the opposite... DJ41 fluted black dial with jubilee for my first watch. Quite versatile and its definitely my daily beater until I got opened up to the SS models. My personal opinion of having a DJ + Sub is an unbeatable two punch combo. Since than I take an interesting approach.. My goal is to have DJ, land, air, sea :) cheers!

I own two modern dj41s, they're absolutely capable of handling bumps and scrapes.

That said, the fluted/jubilee combination is full blown jewelry as far as i'm concerned and I would never be "rough and tumbling" in it for no other reason than me wanting it to retain its jewelry-like appearance. I'm fine bumping and scraping my tudor though.

Love the look of a rough and ready Marine wearing a spectacular DJ with an incredible sleeve of tats. Enjoy in great health from an Air Force brethren.

I wouldn't risk it, this one is 52 years old and probably should have been thrown away years ago.

Common brother, don't abuse all your watches equally as bad. Fine you are abusing the sub, but take care of the datejust if you get it

A Rolex in pristine condition is a beautiful thing. However, a Rolex that looks like it's lived a little is a very cool thing.
