Your money. Your life. Screw what the naysayers think/say.

Personally I'd go for the YG Daydate...beautiful watch.

100+mph... balls to the wall all the way to the end. Enjoy your watch(es?)!!

Charles Franklin put it best:
“No one gets out of this life alive. So leave a footprint of your choice. You are writing your epitaph. You are writing it now! Life is a process, not a goal. Live it now, or you will miss it! We have time to spend and no time to waste.”

Yup. A Coral Red OP 41 with a list price of $5900.

Ordered it from a "trusted seller". Now I see why he is trusted. I paid by wire noon yesterday and got a Fedex shipping code within an hour. Priority Next Day. I had the watch in hand this morning at 1040. 1500 miles away.

I love it! So much so I am seriously considering buying the one they have up now for $14,575 as a spare. That is NOT a joke.Circumstances-I have no immediate family save a near nursing home ready father in his 90's and a few similar aged aunts and uncles.

A bunch of cousins. Some of whom I am reasonably close to, most of whom I could give a **** about.

I am not rich by a long shot. But I have more than enough to get by on the rest of my life. Car is paid for. House is reverse mortgaged so I can stay there

rent free for life and have sucked 300 grand out of the equity. I am done traveling both for health and non-desirability at this point. I have traveled plenty including 4 trips to Europe. My pensions (plural), SS and investments turn out more than I spend by quite a bit.

I am old, fat and dying. Earlier this month I was given 3-5 years to live. 6 on the outside. Sad part is I feel great. I could buy this watch 50 times over and still live very comfortably, though it would extinguish my savings. Won't do that of course but maybe 1 more...and maybe a brand new Day-Date yellow gold. Undecided on the dial. I am assuming I can buy one at MSRP from an AD without playing and of these "games". If not-it is onto the Grays.

The watch by the way is beautiful. The Datejust 36 I have been wearing for 20 years now seems cramped. Will try to post a pic tomorrow but that is not my strong suit. When they say never worn I believe it. Warranty is good till

March 2026. With a little luck I may outlive it.

Yeah, get the Day Date yellow gold and enjoy it!
You deserved it man.

It's all about health, happiness & family. The rest are just necessary inconveniences we have to deal with.

The responses questioning OP's logic are absolutely pathetic. Seriously embarrassing. Congrats, enjoy, and I wish you the best of health and enjoyment of the watch.

Bob, you've done this the wrong way round.

Most AD's would have sorted out an OP for you (at retail of course), when buying a precious metal DD.

Wish you all the best.

Edit: My mother had malignant throat cancer and was given 6 months to live in 1974. She battled like Mike Tyson and spent 6 months in a cancer hospital. She passed away in 2016 having lived a great life. And still didn't give up on her dam cigarettes.

Agree, definitely should be tried yes. But it's not intuitive for most folks to go from DD to OP. And these days 1 DD may not be enough to get that specific color OP he wants plus the man doesn't want to wait. But he can still try it and get a second OP.

I’m not sure people read your entire post. If they did, they probably wouldn’t have responded so rudely. So sorry to hear about your health. Enjoy your watch.

spend that money, can always sell that watch down the road, even if it for less than what you spent, you will still get the $$$ worth of enjoyment out of it

Probably no need for a back up. But if it makes you happy, get the back up.

Why do you think you are a sucker? Without an AD relationship, the OP is only obtainable on the secondary market for the going price.

He doesn't think he's a sucker--at least I don't think/hope so . He's alluding to the prevailing attitude on TRF that only "suckers" pay above retail for a watch.

OP: Congrats on the new watch. I say go get that DD as soon as possible and start enjoying it along with your OP.

if you plan on getting a day date anyway you could've just used that as leverage to get the op at retail

I am the "sucker" who paid $14,375 for a $5900 MSRP OP-Any questions???

Bob,

Good job handling this thread. You stood up to the challenges. I noticed you clarified some of the comments from your original post.

Your idea of taking the new OP on a road trip is a good one.

Best of health and let’s get to the end of the warranty.
