FWIW, prior to using it on a Rolex, I strongly recommend consideration of playing around with it a bit on a cheaper watch or at least starting on an inconspicuous surface or a link that you can easily swap out should you not like the results.

Also FWIW, I purchased a Sunshine Cloth based on advice here and IMHO it finishes better than a Cape Cod.

Just make sure you mask off the brushed parts.

I've used it, just stay on the polished surfaces. Sunshine cloth seemed to work better for me. Of course, never make it a habit. I've done it only a couple times.

I've used CapeCod on a number of occasions; use it carefully, lightly, and infrequently and you'll do OK.

Here's the outcome

It's not as perfect as the picture shows esp eith the shine. The camera doesn't pick up the hair line scratches. But I picked this up used and it had two major slashes on second and third link. With Scotch bright on the polished part and CC on the polished. It took it out. But I get why people say stay away cause in certain lighting u get the hair line scratches. In conclusion. Buy brand new LOL

If you're careful, it works quite well on polished surfaces.

I get why there's people that says to stay away due to CC making hair thin scratches in certain lightning conditions. I wouldn't Polish again as all war wounds will be made by me moving forward. Hope it helped others!

I use cc to get rid of those particularly annoying scratches that just stand out. Touch up basically. Works fine.

The rest can be sorted come service time with RSC.

Take my advice the only time any Rolex watch needs any sort of polishing is at normal routine service only. The sure way to ruin any Rolex is wanting to polish every time you see the slightest scratch.

Hi Gab27,
Interesting point about this ‘Sunshine cloth’. Can you elaborate on why it “finishes better?” I’ve used cc before but never heard of the stuff you mention.
Thanks

Agree Peter, if owners went to this method each time they had a rub or swirl or scratch, they could eventually make mistakes that are worse than the inevitable dings that life gives us.

Since this thread was first done in May of this year, I’m sure the OP has collected new scratches.

The new question about another Sunshine polishing cloth that mimics Cape Cod polishing cloths may be worth more discussion but all the people should be wary of their own skills first.

It deserves mentioning that OP said he isn’t planning on doing this over and over again. And I think readers should realize you can’t keep doing the DIY polishing exercises without the risk of a mistake causing poor results no matter the brand of cloth you choose.

I can't tell you the specifics of the chemistry, but a few members here highly recommended it and showed pictures of results. Cape Cods seem to sometimes leave slightly hazy finishes that you really have to work at to get rid of, whereas I am finding the Sunshine Cloth brings a fine finish with less effort and a bit less mess. I've been using it a lot on various finishes and I am extremely satisfied with it.
