Concierge Service In the UK
All,
Would like a recommendation for a concierge service that could pick up a watch in London and ship to the US. I got the call on my Harrods Tudor, paid by CC, and then the email to collect in person. By the time they opened, my family member in London had left the country and won't be back in time. I hear there are reputable companies that provide this service. Any recommendations? Thanks |

Not sure if this makes any difference to your purchase, but the UK no longer offers Tax Refund service at the Airport. The is no more Tax Free Sales for Non UK residents in the UK.
So you have paid full UK price incl local sales tax and then you will have to pay Tax and Duty on import to US.

Interestingly, Harrods didn't charge me sales tax. I paid a total of £2,840.00 Not sure why or how this affects the process. |

Tax is included in the price in the UK. But as someone mentioned above, you will have to pay export/import duties various customs tax it may cost you a hell of a lot more than you’re expecting do your research.

As others mentioned, expect to say pay some hefty duties for importing the watch unless you lie about the value (which would also void any protections from the carrier).
UPS would almost certainly notate the full face value and then mark up their cost to import it before sending you the final bill. |

If Harrods won’t permit that idea. Then you will have to find a friend or someone you trust to collect it for you …….. Possibly pay for it for you and then shop it. I know that can be hard. You just have to choose with care Sent from my iPhone 12 using Tapatalk

Doesn’t someone like Amex run a concierge service for things like this?
If I was heading into London I’d sort it out and ship it for you no problem. I’m sure someone might be able to help out if you get really stuck. |

If you have a centurion card then yep they will sort this no problem but if it’s the platinum card then jot too sure. Have a look at packsend. Would post the link but it won’t let me. They look like they will organise this for you.

I'm in London and could easily sort it out for you...but I hope you understand I don't want to get blamed for when you receive an empty box. It's just not worth the hassle for doing someone I don't know a favour. I think the concierge service is the best bet.

I’m not sure of your meaning but I don’t think you really needed to post that.

What I am trying to say is that best that a Concierge company is used.
If I knew the recipient well, then I have no issues, as if the box arrives empty, the recipient would know it was not down to my slight of hand. As I don't know the recipient, it puts both of us in bad situation if this were to happen.
