First post Southern Indiana AD report

I guess for my first post I can spread the bad news that is reported all over the country. I stopped into the Bloomington Indiana AD today to look for some ideas for my wife's upcoming birthday, and look at there Rolex inventory. As usual no SS models in stock, two PM Daytona's (I tried on the RG Arabic Numeral Daytona) one YM no DJ 41's one YG DD all the rest were DJ. They didn't even have an OP in stock. Sales person I talked with was a great guy and I am sure would have let me try on anything I would have wanted to. Told me there wait for SS Daytona is 5 years, and that all Subs are gone within a day of coming in. Great jeweler that has been around forever, bought my wife's engagement ring in there 22 years ago, but still the same story as everyone else.

Does 22 years make you a cutter? Or do you work at IU?

Born and raised in Bloomington, but also work at IU. At 52 years old a little to old for the Cutter shenanigans anymore but I guess this will always be home.

What a great response! I always assumed you were local or IU.

If you read post #5, then you’ll see there’s a third category.

Nope. Jeffersonville is Southern Indiana. We had the Underground Railroad. What they do across the river is pevert god and basketball.

(I tease. I very much like Louisville so no one get their panties in a wad)

I spent 4 and 1/2 of the best years of my life at IU. My wife did too and attended their law school. We still make 4 or 5 trips a year down there.

Yes, this area is considered the limestone capital of the world, so many people still today are employed as stone cutters. "Cutters" for short. In the movie the team of "local" riders was named cutters. Still have a team called this today although most of the time not local riders. They are actually the defending champion of the Little 500.

I grew up in Evansville, right across the Ohio from KY. Also went to IU, Bloomington. Haven't been back in years, and obviously won't be making a special trip to get a Rolex. Good to see others here from my old stomping grounds!

No worries. Tons of Purdue friends. Both kids may end up there. Aviation and veterinary school.

Good for them. We own veterinary hospitals in California now. I sure miss Bob Evans and Steak 'N Shake......and the cost of living.

Enjoyed this thread -- except for the not-so-surprising Rolex news. Also an IU/Bloomington grad and grew up in Indianapolis. My sister went to Purdue. Lots of texting during last night's game . . . wince.
