Simply...The Wine Thread

Rutherford Hill 2012 Merlot (Napa Valley)

Tasting Notes:
Structured in young tannins, this wine has a nice mélange of leather, blackberry, clove and black tea that provide substance and flavor, with additional savory specks of graphite. Light bodied and soft, the acidity behind the fruit suggests further aging, through 2020.

A ton of way underrated wines when it comes to Merlot.

Wife likes Merlot and Red Blends. So, always searching for new good one's for her. I prefer a big bold Cab!

Simply...The Wine Thread

Just settling down to the UEFA Champions League final with a McLaren Vale Cab Sauv.

I've earned this with a 650 mile round trip to climb the UK's highest mountain!!

Given the choice, do you guys prefer vertical tastings (same winemaker/different vintages) or horizontal tastings (different winemaker/same vintage year)?

This was amazing and probably one of the best wines I've drank this year so far

Went very well with these spicy, steamed clams in garlic, wine sauce

The latest "drink now" in my search for something that won't trigger my Reflux.
13% alc - so a bit lower than most reds.
Certainly very approachable. Not a huge amount of personality but nice fruity palate of blueberry and blackcurrent with a little bit of Yarra Valley regional character. Soft finish that is not at all acid so could be a good candidate for an easy quaffer.

I received word last night that my very first wine won silver at the California Orange County fair, known for their very tough judging panels and stringent criticism. To place at Orange County is a huge accomplishment. I'm riding high on cloud 9 right now
