All I want is a nice Calatrava, may be in SS or White Gold , 37-38mm with an updated movement and a display back. Ie - Update the 5196 but keep the same look.

the guys at monochrome did a photoshop mock-up of a steel datograph. i think it looks great, i guess it could be a similar color scheme if patek did a platinum or steel 5170

What about the 5990/1a? Any news of this? Possibly discontinued.

As Karl has already mentioned, Patek have the aperture AC covered.

Personally, I think that the 5146, with its subdials is a classic & should remain untouched and of course the 5035 - 1st AC had the same dial combination.

Oh wow, George. You just ruined the 5196P for me! I mean I knew the movement was small for the case, but damn! I don't own one, but had been eyeing them for the longest time. Be well!

Same here my friend, after the 3 watches I am getting within the next 6 months, Daytona C, am giving Rolex a try as I find the white dial very nice, it's waiting for me in Switzerland, but will probably just go when I , 5711 and the Voutilainen, the only watch I would love to get is a 5131P, don't have my sights on any other watch, and really hoping it will stay that way for a long time, if not for ever

And yes I know that it will be hard to get one, but who knows, might get lucky...
You better get on the list now.....when they cancel the R those on the list can transfer to the new model.

Think the bottom line is that the allocation process is not clear and that Rhone (in the UK) will allocate however they seem fit. Obviously different in rest of the world.

Yes, UK is tightly controlled by Rhone. Personally I think this is good as they take a measured view of new buyers and existing collectors - at some point even the biggest collector had to start with their first piece.

The 5131 map pops so much better off a colored gold. Just got mine, but haven't made a thread. Plus, the waitlist and expense for a P model will probably be so long - and you and I so far behind the sheiks and titans - that you might be better off just having Kari make one for you :)

That would be great if they allocated pieces that way on merit and passion of their collectors...

I spoke at length with the assistant manager at the Salon in Geneva about the sacrifice I made to acquire my 5131R and what it means to me. Also gave my idea of what map should look like for the P if one was made and he sais he will pass the idea on hahaha. Might get lucky with one if the waitlist doesnt transfer over from from R to P

I'm picking mine up from my AD shortly. It seems like they delivered a bunch of 5131R recently, my wait was 3 years.

Mr Stern could use your advise my friend!

For some strange reason I think the 5131 is on its way out of production...
