Not enough for the privilege of spending more, apparently.

$0 prior to the purchase of my SD43. I basically walked in and left a deposit and got it 20 days later.

In the last 3 years I've had ….
4 Daytonas - 2 steel white dial and black , Yellow gold green dial and white gold Oysterflex
4 GMT's - Pepsi , new Batman and Rootbeers Solid and Bimetal
3 Datejust 41s , Blue dial , Rhodium and Bimetal chocolate dial
Skydweller Rose gold
2 James Cameron - both the new one and old style
2 Seadwellers
2 Subs - date and non date
1 Yachtmaster - Rhodium dial

I also owned several Rolex before the madness started , some of these watches I picked up in airports although most came from my local AD .
I have flipped a few but most I still have and intend on keeping.
I wouldn't like to guess how much I've actually spent but my AD always seems happy to see me

A fair amount but never enough unfortunately. They used to suggest buying other pieces to get the one I wanted. Now that the “less desirable” Rolex models are unobtainable the sales associate tries to foist diamond jewelry on me lol. Can’t say I blame them for trying but given the secular shift away from brick and mortar retail there’s little chance this phenomenon redounds to their benefit over the long-term. When the fever breaks and supply/demand gets rebalanced I think a lot of customers will remember how they were shunned when trying to buying a mass produced sports watch.

I’ve spent too much, but it has paid off. I have purchased and Nautilus and a Daytona in the last year. A good AD relationship can be beneficial, as long as both parties feel like they are taken care of. If it becomes unrealistic for either party it becomes contentious.

What’s the watch that “started it all” ? My guess is Sub ND?

Believe it or not the first Rolex I bought was the old non ceramic Daytona . I walked into my local AD and was looking for a GMT , they never had one in stock that day but they said they had a Daytona in the safe if I'd like to take a look , they brought out a black and the white dial and asked me which colour I preferred , things was a little bit different back in those days

I got my hulk a few years back and had no buying history with the sub. I even managed to knock off about 15 %.

35k (BLNR, then IWC Portugueser 7-day, ladies 31mm SS OP diamond marker, Sub ND) before being offered DaytonaC (after waiting a little over a year and I am one happy friggin’ camper.)

Another AD in 2018, bought an AP 15400ST Silver as my first and only purchase. I’d have bought it from my normal AD if they carried AP.

They knew I would not flip it, and they always like to make sure I have it on when I come in. I can’t blame them and I’m happy to oblige, I absolutely love wearing it.

Dang!

I would use that $163k to pay off my home and then live like a king with zero debt!

I've never added it up, if i did i forgot. I have 2 ADs that I've purchased from, my now one and only Rolex AD did offer my Blnr without asking after buying a Zblue and a Polar. I've bought a few since including a one owner 16710 that they sold new. I've always got some sort of discount from the start on new pieces and never bought jewelry or played any AD games.
