this is the same situation I'm facing. I told my AD to put me on his list for the post-Baselworld updated Sub Date; since I don't now have a dive watch, he mentioned he may have quick access to a SD. I've tried on the current Sub Date and thought its' wrist presence was underwhelming. If he comes up with a SD, at least I can try it on.
How many people have both a Sub and SD? Are they basically close enough to be considered redundant?

SD43 is something else when it comes to divers.

I have a 7” wrist and the SD43 is choice ! The 40mm watches are much too small.

It wouldn't be redundant unless by that you mean the sub would be permanently put out of business. The SD43 is superior in every way if you can handle the size.

In my opinion the SD43 wears quite a lot larger than the Submariner and the DSSD wears substantially larger than the SD43. All have their positive qualities and all carry with it a little charm all of their own. These days with oversized watches being popular and acceptable to wear in virtually any setting I think it’s really just a personal preference.

Sounds like a plan, we all live and learn along the way. I had a similar situation last year and just moved on, no regrets, made it up quick and now just feel all the wiser. Adding the SD43 with your Dblue just means you'll end up the two best HD divers out there.

Love the sD 43. I find it VERY comfortable. I took off the flip lock extension and it fits perfectly. Perfectly balanced and not too thick. Last of the true tool watches along with Exp II.

Thanks very much for the feedback; can't wait to get the call and try it on.

Could a SD43 and a JC DSSD coexist in one’s rotation?

Don't see why it couldn't, but I think you'd probably end up wearing the 43 as the daily and the DSSD as the weekend piece. If you're wanting a one/done I'm a recent 43 convert...and this coming from someone who wore the DSSD regularly for over 6 years.

I wear my 43 all the time and love the size and wrist presence, but my 40mm references just sit in the safe now. Thinking to maybe switch some of them out for the larger offerings, like BLNR for a JC, or Daytona for a Sky D blue. Anyone else upsize pieces in their collections?
