I agree with this. So if someone used tape (I personally dont') then it would limit any scratches for certain. Regardless if it was slippage or a broken tool. And a broken tool can happen with any name brand.

Older Rolex's with single flange spring bars work best if they use a small v-fork tool. There so many variables and there is no perfect tool for every watch.

Hell in all honesty patience, steady hands, head mounted magnifier, tape (if your steadiness sucks like mine does) and a decent tool works the best. Not mention a shot of whiskey.
Thanks for the reply. What would you recommend for modern Rolex no holes case?

I agree with all your said about patience, steady hands etc. Shot of whiskey I'll pass on that but I do see how it may be of some help.

For me this one http://www.esslinger.com/horofix-wat...ers-band-tool/

But just don't try and do this in a rush. The case/bracelet gap is super tight. The only one I personally know that is worse is the Pelagos.

This combo works great but like it was said before you need to file the forka down.
Is also have the simple bergeon to push the pins out the lugholes

If you have drilled lugs use a cocktail stick to compress the spring bars, if they slip, no damage is done.

More good info folks, thanks. Mine hasn't been delivered yet. Now I have to figure out what a case cushion is. Some one got some good pics of those and info?

Yep agreed. This is mine (I compared it to my friends Bergeon) and it's exactly the same. It costs $80 (now it says $89, but it was $80 when I bought it) so I thought it was a pretty good deal and it works great. It even comes with extra interchangeable forks

The plier is same but the fork tips (and end especially) are not the same. Horofix appears slimmer and more prone to breaking whereas Bergeon appears more solid. That's what I gathered from all the posts.

Horofix gives you 4 different sized fork tips for different size spring bars. The ones that come with the watch definitely fit Rolex spring bars and they are strong Even if you were worried about that you could order the Horofix and then also order the bergeon fork tips that will fit for a few dollars

Thanks, so Bergeon tips will fit on Horofix?

Yes at least the ones I used (my friends, just to check) I don't know if they all fit, but I assume they will, both the horofix and bergeon have a screw down mechanism to fit different size tips. That being said I compared the two side by side and they don't look any different quality / durability wise

Check eBay or Amazon, you don't need to spend big money for a brand name one.

I believe that's to set the watch sapphire crystal down on. I just use a blanket or whatever.

For removing and replacing bracelets with bracelet pliers they're invaluable. Endlinks rarely sit flush with the lugs so working on a surface with some give helps with alignment.

You essentially pin the endlink to the case cushion using the bracelet pliers (like pinning a snake by the neck) and remove or reintroduce the watch head as required. A folded polishing cloth also works but a case cushion is far superior and makes the job much easier.

So that's two pairs, four tips, with different ends 1 and 1.4mm and the 1mm fit six digit Rolex?

Why are people spending all that money on Bergeon and then filing the tip to fit their Rolex? Yet those who buy Horofix aren't buying the best for their Rolex yet they fit without filing?

What am I missing?

Not sure which size fits because I don't think they're labeled (I'll have to look at them and see.) It definitely fits perfectly though and comes with 4 different sizes (2 sets of forks with different size ends.)

As far as why people are spending more money, I just think it's because people think of Bergeon as the highest quality so it must be the best? It's what most watchmakers use? I think Bergeon makes the exact tip you need but you have to order it (I could be wrong, that's just what I've read.)

My Horofix works awesome, I've used it a bunch going back and forth from the oyster to the Everest rubber strap and I've never had a single issue with it, works perfectly

is it because you don't know who you're buying from? just like in TRF you buy the seller and unlike TRF or anything else, Ebay puts a score and % next to the seller.

there really can't b anything more secure than to know the financial dealings the person did BEFORE you walked in there to buy.

but don't ask me, i'm a maniac. bought a porsche over the phone, site unseen. i bank wire tens of thousands of dollars to sellers i don't know, too.

what's the common denominator? trusted sellers. takes the worry out.

I also avoid buying on line. Watches are a big no-no since I always like to inspect it personally.

With the tools, you can get best price at cousinsuk and this is where I bought my toys from. Best price for Bergeon and others.
So, I don't have to deal with every Tom, Dick and Harry and fear that I might get a fake tool or get scammed. (there a lot of top reputation seller that sell fake tools, especially from Asia).

Good thing I came across this thread, was just about to pull the trigger on a 6825-PF.

Anyone know where I can get the Horofix pliers in the UK/EU?
Seems the 6825 will not fit the narrower lug openings on a lot of my watches.

After being stuck in Australian Customs for just over two weeks got the Horofix pliers and it's tremendous

Took maybe two seconds to remove each spring bar... took a bit longer to put them back on... don't forget the tape to stop scratching the lugs

With the 7825's I don't even need to use tape. They keep the spring bar fully compressed, both while removing and replacing. Great tool.
