3 Watch Collection

Hello! I'm writing my first ever post. So excited.

I'm trying to build my collection and looking forward to get my 3rd watch.

Current Collection (2 Watches)
Datejust 36mm white/roman (126234)
Submariner 41mm black date (126610LN)

For the 3rd watch, I am considering between
1) Rolex Explorer 1 36mm (124270)
2) JLC Reverso Classic duoface/small seconds (Q2458422)

Other than list, I would appreciate any recommendations/suggestions!

Thank you!

Would definitely move away from Rolex, 3 watches all Rolex seems overkill for me.

Explorer too similar to the DJ in dimensions and possibly appearance (if the DJ is on an oyster / smooth bezel).

Reverso is a decent watch if it matches your style.

Personally I'd be a bit cliché and throw in a Moonwatch (not necessarily the classic black dial though).

Your collection consists of a white dial and a black dial. Rolex or not, I'd have some fun and bring in some color for your 3rd watch.

If you like the JLC Reverso, this one that was just announced today comes to mind. It features their new ultrathin rose gold case and you cannot say this is not an absolute stunner.
Thinking of picking one up myself...

Feels like you’re in my position!

I have an OP and DJ both at 41mm and I was looking for a Sub to finish the set but it’s difficult to get.

I’ve been flirting with a JLC reverso, but I dress too casually to pull it off.
I’ve been flirting with a Mooneatch but something is just making me hold off, I don’t know what it is.

The new 224270 Explorer 1 I’m waiting to go on a list as it’s delayed in the UK but I really like the simple watch element. Also HAS to be a black dial for legibility.

I go for a Moonwatch if you like Chronos. For me the dials are a tad too busy for everyday use. I think your DJ will be worn in similar settings VS a Reverso.

Don’t think an explorer will add much to your collection and you already have a black dial in the 126610. Would for sure go Reverso, as it adds some fun and diversity.

In your case I would pick the JLC and not add the EX1-36mm.

My three watch collection (till I coudln't control myself anymore)

Was a Tudor Black blue dial for everyday wear
A Rolex Daytona for nicer everyday wear
And a JLC Master Ultra thin moon, for the fancier

I'd go a leather band watch as your third option, to give it some more variety. You will probably wear it less but its nice to have. Jlc is a solid option

JLC Reverso would be perfect to round out that collection.

Solid collection

Your collection is awesome and for the third watch I'd recommend, JLC Reverso Classic duoface/small seconds (Q2458422) that's an amazing watch imo

Personally, I wouldn't get a third Rolex based on your current collection. What about a Zenith Chronomaster Original or an Omega Moonwatch?

It really depends on your style but I think if you’re sticking with Rolex, an Ex1 is a great choice. I’d also recommend a GMT if you’re looking to add a little colour.

I have the 36 mm Explorer, and it’s awesome. So what if 2 of your watches are black? If you want something different, a silver dial OP, is another option.

JLC Reverso for me, it will add a little fun to your collection, since you have a black dial 126610LN, I will personally add a Reverso.

Tough one. I do prefer a classic Explorer to a Rverso but the Reverso makes more sense in that imagined trio.

Tough call. Can’t go wrong either way but I’d lean Reverso.

The JLC is stunning and a watch I’ve considered but I have struggled to get one that fits properly. The IWC Portofino is a beautiful watch if you want something dressy.

Very nice watches that you have.

Reversos are beautiful watches with historical significance and are made by the « watchmaker for watchmakers ». You can wear a Reverso in very casual attire (works with T-shirt/Polos/etc.)

As to the recommendations, it depends on what you like and the budget.

You may want to have a look at:

- Speedmasters (Omega),
- Octos (Bvlgari),
- Polos (Piaget),
- Tondas (Parmigiani Fleurier, budget is a little bit higher here).

What about this absolute beauty for a bit of variety ?
Absolute keeper, works well for dressier occasions and can still be worn casual.

explorer 1 top choice.

you've got a dressy sport watch in DJ
a diver in the sub
and a field watch in the explorer

I went with two Rolex (BLNR and DaytonaC), my next was a reverso ultra thin duo face.

It added brand variety and complication (dual time).

The reverso feels more delicate than the Rolex, but also I would say it feels in many ways superior.

Resale is a thorn on the JLC's, so I wouldn't buy new. But I believe certain watches everyone should experience and aren't out of place in any collection. A Reverso is one of those.

Nothing wrong with exp 1, but 3 rolex with nothing else I wouldn't personally advise, brand variety makes you see what else is out there.

In terms of others to consider: Royal Oak, Speedmaster, Daytona, vintage Heuer chronograph, PP calatrava.

i would definitely go with the reverso. personally not a fan of having all one brand, though of course i love rolex as we all do.

and plenty of options with the reverso to find one that suits your taste. good luck
