5164A swap with 5205G grey dial and Daytona c white
What do you guys think? No money involve, just normal swap. 5164 was my daily watch until I purchase speedy 3861. Once I tried it back, i suddenly lost my interest. And daytona always be one of my favorite that I always try to purchase since forever. About 5205G, actually I prefer the black 5205R black instead, but dont want to pay the price different. 5205G grey is my second favorite compare to other colors. Am I insane to pull the trigger?

5164 is one of those watches that once you get it should be a main stay. It’s extremely versatile.
I’d just add the 5205g. |

In a word - YES. I love the Daytona too, in fact it will be the only watch that I’m considering going grey market to get the old ones like 116520, 16520 etc, but the 5164A is on a different level compared to the Daytona. Finishing wise, the movement is miles ahead and the transparent case back allows one to see that beauty of a movement. Rarity wise it’s not even a debate. Ceramic Daytona although only introduced in 2016 is way more mass produced than a 5164A. Lastly, the function of a 5164A is more useful than a Daytona, especially if you travel and want to call home to find out how the family is doing.
5205 is great but I don’t think it’s a watch you can wear everyday. Sure some might say it’s possible, but it’s more of an occasion piece where you wear it while celebrating your anniversary with your wife on a nice dinner date. |

The Daytona is so common and not special at all. I'd pick aquanaut > daytona every day.

I would make that trade. Taking a step back a daytona and 5205 will give you more value and versatility than a single 5164.

No way! Get the Daytona later (try to get on a waiting list), the 5164 is so nice, I have a lot of watches and it‘s one of my favorites..

I would do it. Daytona is very liquid, you can sell it, trade it in, whatever to it and the market will be there. The 5205 is super, SUPER special especially in the gray dial as you know. I don’t know who could say it’s a “special occasions” watch?… it’s an ÁC, designed and supposed to be a daily. Nauty travel time, on the other hand, is for…. TRAVEL!
Especially you said you fell out of love with it. What ya waiting for? Do the trade. |

I wouldn't do it. 5164 is much harder to replace than a Daytona or 5205. The Daytona is an iconic watch, but I find it a bit underwhelming in person. It's the Rolex I wear the least in my rotation.

I personally wouldn't, but you should always do you if you don't love it anymore.
FWIW, I like rubber straps for SE asia weather, so I'm very biased in this regard. |

5164 street price in Grey is about 70. 5205 is 40 for a newer rose/green or white/blue. The Day is what???…. You do the math…

I'd do the trade if you don't love the 5164 anymore, doesn't make sense to keep it if you don't like it and can get 2 watches you do

Congrats! well, technically the aquanaut travel time has the same complication as the 5524G/R, also a complications watch. values aside, most important is love and wrist time. better to have something you enjoy than something that others like, but don't speak to you.

Congrats, I think you made a good trade.
I, like nearly everyone back in 2010 (or maybe a bit earlier), thought (and still do) that the Aquanaut is a dog. It's just a lame design... I know I'm in the minority (at least now I am)... Interesting how a watch can go from an unloved dog to nearly everyone's darling. Enjoy your new pieces! |

It sounds like a fair trade. But the 5164 is a forum favorite which explains the No Way posts.
If you aren’t wearing the 5164 it makes sense as well, especially if you want the Daytona and the 5205. I know the Daytona has a lot of hype, but it’s well deserved. It’s such a comfortable watch. Just beware, you may come to dislike your Speedy. |

Haha.. trade is done. Absolutely love both watches. Speedy looks very old now compare to Daytona except it has better bracelet. I just realise I end up having 3 legendary chrono. |

Its always be a very complicated feeling for me too. So far I'm quite satisfy with the decision and not missing 5164 at all. But once I regret and want it back, i think it wont hurt my pocket that much..
