My AD never came thru for my 50th, so I went grey and got myself a BLNR on jubilee.

How about something different? Go vintage, birth year 1973 Daytona.

It's a personal choice (obviously).
I just happened to turn 50 when this reference was released at Basel World 2017. Born in 67 just like its predecessor 20191031_122012.jpg Sent from my SM-G960W using Tapatalk |

Guess I’m the odd duck here, gave myself a Glashütte Original Senator Perpetual Calendar and loving the complications. My Rolexes still get the vast majority of wrist time.

Hahaha!! Had not noticed that! Great observation. I absolutely love that model - I’ve even considered trading out my Explorer and Milgauss towards it…I’m just not sure if I can justify the $40-50k, even though it’s an absolute stunner. The $10-15k for the Datejust is just a whole lot easier to wrap my brain around. Aaaaaannddd… kinda also want to squeeze in a 911 as a consolation gift, if possible. I also love blue dials.
There is nothing and I mean nothing at any price like the 126613LB dial! Spectacular! I can't think of a better 50 gift for yourself other than the full gold model - if you got that kinda coin go for it!

Turned 50 a few months ago. Went with a 116518 YG Daytona on oysterflex with black diamond dial. Absolutely love it.

Congrats on the coming milestone! Am on the fifth floor since 2016 and did not purchased anything to celebrate it, but think did had by then my gone 18239 DD. From your 2 choices would probably suggest the WG Daytona as love stealth wealth! Quote:

Nov for me, I Am hoping to get something with a meteorite dial, either a GMT or Daytona, as I already own the meteorite DD40 already. Baring that it will be something from AP. Has to be a rare piece for such a birthday

Between the 2 that you’re considering you can’t really go wrong. Personally, I prefer YG or RG if you’re going to go gold so I’d go with the DJ41 in this case….and in fluted/jubilee.

I'm a few exits past that mile marker. At least, my body is. I'm 32.
Anyway, since you're turning 50, you've reached what Denzel Washington called the "F--k it 50s"...so get whatever the hell you want and can acquire. Personally, if you don't have one, I'd get an Omega Speedmaster Professional, because when you're 50, you don't mind taking a moment in the morning to wind your watch... The Moonwatch is as iconic as it gets and you won't have to sell plasma and jewelry to find one at an AD... Is it fancy? No, but it's cool...and it's cool to be 50. Happy Birthday! |
