AP FC 44mm carbon wear and tear

I'll still wear it until the case is completely
gone, if you heard crazy stories of AP carbon wear feel free to post.

Looks great to me! I've seen some pics of beat up FC bezels but I've had no negative experiences to this point.

It's been slowly wearing away on the pushers sides next to the case screw

If it bothers you, you could consider flipping for the all ceramic Offshore44?

Did you hit it? What is causing the wear?

I love FC. Owned the 44 twice and both times I let it go due to wear related concerns, especially around the sharp bottom case edges and close to the screws as you mention (second time I had a small chip in the case ... came that way out of Le Brassus for all I know).

Still love the material and it kills me to see my old pictures!

Like my man Serg, I LOVE the FC and wore mine almost daily for 3 yrs. tbh, never noticed a diff till I saw a new one and seen the sharp case lines were not nearly as sharp anymore. I will still get another one w/o a seconds thought though!

If I sell it honestly I have no clue what to get instead , already own a nautilus and a aquanaut from Patek from AP blue dial ROC? Don't need a jumbo already have a RO. The 44mm in ceramic I don't see it worth the price bump.

Thank you for your candid comment. This pretty guarantees I will not get a FC cased AP.

Ha! I know how you feel. I got my third SS 44 after selling the second FC ... and guess what ... It's been at Clearwater for 8 weeks or so now ... for warranty work ... brand new watch (and my only watch I might add).

I love the brand but I am pretty fed up to be honest. The problem is that there is nothing else that calls my attention ... though if it comes back in anything less than pristine shape, I will have to reconsider that. I had warranty work done on a previous 44, and the results were less than stellar.

To the OP: sorry to see that about your FC.
The corners and edges of my FC are as sharp as on the day I got it (last Oct).
I am very careful with my watches, and maybe I baby the AP a bit more since it's so valuable, at least compared with my Rolexes.

really sorry to hear about/see the wear and tear...

I don't know much about the manufacturing process of FC, but mine litterally looks like I just took it out of the box - even under a loop.

Uhh, maybe I'm blind, but the watch looks perfect to me. Where is the wear and tear?

Next to the case screws it's a bit rounded compared to when it was brand new

i would definitely sell it as fast as possible and keep the cash until i found something else I would want to buy. At least i would have the funds on hand. It would really bother me, the wear and tear on such an expensive watch.

Haha thats what I was thinking. I was struggling to find anything wrong. Maybe its cause its all black so we couldn't see?

edit: Isn't forged ceramic supposed to be incredibly hard? What did you do to chip it?

No I didn't chip just through general/heavy use and I went swimming every day straight in a whole week. I've seen carbon bezels completely worn down which look crazy worn out.

I love it but prefer the old one, though it might be a little too bulky and the thickness might be better balanced with 41mm than 39mm, would like to have one day the WG dato PC, now that is a stunning one and one of my grails, saw it in real but in PT, but prefer the WG because of the grey dial, really a beauty, and that movement

Imagine the wear and tear on a AP carbon concept or the new lap timer now that would really suck

I have a FC diver that is back at AP right now for 3rd year warranty extension after 2 years of being worn daily with no sign of wear. I also have a FC concept case and 44mm novelty case and have done some scratch and drop testing without any noticible wear. During my visit AP did say they have improved their FC process over the years. I believe Paul even said the new Schumi was very hard to machine because of the hardness of the material.

I'm a big fan of FC but given I have a couple extra cases I'm happy to do some more controlled tests if anyone wants.

I have a separate account for only watches and I can get a Dato up down now so the funds don't bother me , I think I can sell the 44mm for around $23k.

Don't see the point in having the Nautilus and the Aquanaut – I'd ditch the latter and add it to the FC's funds.
Maybe it's time to go for a VC Overseas – 3-hander or chronograph.
