GMT Master in WatchTime

Anyone get a chance to pick up the August edition of WatchTime? There is a long article on the new GMT II, as well as a nice long article on the new Rolex facilities in Geneva. 5 stories of the building are underground. Very interesting and a good read.

For the record they do alloy their own gold. And they send back full truck loads of stainless steel if they find even a hint of titanium in a single block of stainless.

Yep, read it. They may alloy their own gold, but they still outsource their raw materials, which was the crux of the matter last week.

I'm glad to see you're moving on and letting that issue rest

I think it was in the latest issue... but I read somewhere that Rolex tops the world's watch companies in dollars spent on advertising at something like US$43 million. That HUGE advertising for a what is essentially a niche market.

That's why Joe Sixpack thinks Rolex is the best watch in the world. Companies like Patek Phillippe and GP didn't even hit the top 10.
