Icon6 I'm still here. Who's with me?

In spite of all the threads lately about people wanting to disappear and people not getting their way...I thought I'd go against the grain and say:

I'm still here, I'm happy I checked into this crazy place and that I'm a part of it, and I still plan on being here for an indeterminate amount of time.

Who's with me?

I think it’s all blown out of proportion.

I was just at the front door and lots of people are trying to get in.....

Cracks me up when people announce they are leaving and only have 70 posts. Nobody even knows who you are. Would be like if you announced to everyone you were leaving the restaurant after dinner.

I find the very purpose of existence is to reconcile the glowing opinion we hold of ourselves with the appalling things that others think about us. In other words keep a stiff upper lip

I think this post epitomizes the decay at TRF. Rather than look at why people are leaving, you focus on number of posts. How arrogant.

There has been an exodus of long time members. The place isnt the same any more.

My 13,000 plus posts are out of here.

Lol

I think its funny that they even post at all, if I was going to leave (which I'm not) I would just log off, the fact they need to draw attention to it says a lot

Wait - are you saying I'm not supposed to do so after a meal?! I think the issue is not necessarily one of post count but appreciation for the wealth of info here. I don't post frequently but am on the forum every night because most nights I learn something or get a chuckle from some comments. It just seems like the adage of"iif it isn't for you just move on" is disappearing. People would rather be offended by a snide comment or interaction from someone who, in all likelihood, they will never have an encounter with in real life as opposed to shrugging it off.

In other words, I'm with ya OP. If they want to leave let them do so and the rest of us can continue on ejoying the forum and camraderie it engenders when you don't let a few comments skew your view of the awesome resource and escape this forum is and provides.

Now I just have to work on the restaurant exit announcement habit...

You don't have to tell me the forum demographic is different. I have spent more time here than I care to admit over the past 7 years. I still do not need to know when every Tom dick and harry decides they are leaving.

I have sincere doubts you are leaving because of me I hardly post any threads anymore.

Good riddance

I realize many choose not to post and that is fine. Most of the quality knowledge here comes from using google to access info baked into old threads. Just saying its hard for me to care about your departure if you do not contribute in the first place. Not sure how that is a controversial stance.

I think with the rise of the keyboard warriors, we will see more selfimportant people announcing their exodus. I for 1 love it here and appreciate the forum as an escape from the difficulties in my life. If a thread starts to bother me, I just move on to another one until I find 1 I like. I love my watches and enjoy communicating with like minded people.

Totally agreeing with you just with the kicker that the forum is more than the few posts that always get "relied on" by the I'm leaving crowd in their announcements.

The forum has changed a lot in my short time here. I am genuinely sad to see some of the older guard move on ... or be banned

The forum still has a few bright spots and so for me, I chose to participate rather than dwell on the negative.

There are many, many great, funny, intelligent, kind, and diverse folks here. I like them, I love this forum. I have been on boards for about 20 years, fly fishing, land rovers, bbq, travel, this is by far the best one...Hopefully I can give back just a small amount of what I have been given from you all.

Best,
Griswald

People left mainly because there isn't that much to talk about these days.

The other problem is the influx of people who are more interested in making money than they are in wearing and loving watches, who have flooded the board with the same old whiny topics.

I see all that fading away and now there is actually a thread that has some legs about how the market is softening and grey prices are dropping.

It's all speculation, but at least it's a brighter outlook than all the doom and gloom.

The board itself is functioning as it should as far as I can tell and every board I've ever been on has its ups and downs.

So, I'm still here and I don't plan to go anywhere, unless I'm shown the door.
